re: Beer in can, bottle, or draft - what's best?

I normally buy cans at the house. Had too many occasions of skunky beer with bottles where you have to clean off the top of the bottle. Plus I feel like I look like less of a lush to my neighbors when I throw out the trash with cans in it. No clinking sounds.
At a bar I choose draft beer.

Prefer cans to bottles because I cant stand even a little skunk in my beer. I know some ppl dont like the metallic flavor that the cans can have, but I am used to it.

True... but bottles are better for throwing at them when they give you the stink eye.

Spoke with an expert about this and he surprisingly said, cans are superior to bottles. Something to do with modern cans not changing the taste of beer and the fact that light does penetrate even dark bottles. He believes that the preference for bottles still is due to years of habit.

It is a good theory, but the companies out there that put good stuff out on the shelves are very much still using bottles. It is like 98-2 on good bottles vs can beers if you are just comparing these two.

I realize that. That's why I was surprised. But, I didn't do his argument justice. It was well thought out and more scientifically detailed.
The likely reason for continuing in bottles is consumer preference based on either old experiences with older types of cans or their feelings about bottles based on image.

I have read a little about it. As long as stock is turning a descent amount, the bottles are far better than cans is about the summary of it all from what I could tell.

That and the fact that he average more than a 6 pack per day.
As for me, if I am out I will have a draft beer or a mixed drink or tea/soda/water. I won't drink a bottled or canned beer at a restaurant or bar.

4LSU2 had 2 draft beers at lunch today and said they weren't bad.

as long as it's in an ice cold pint glass I'm cool

Draft is for the cheap young shits that only know about bar specials. No real elder beer drinker prefers a flat draft beer.
Seriously?

Draft beer in a non-frozen glass.
Bottles
Cans

Josey Wales convinced me to try a draft or 2 at lunch Saturday. They weren't bad, but still not my "go-to" choice. I've always said you can't trust someone that won't have a beer with you, so any type of beer consumer is a good chap in my book.

Frosted mugs and glasses are for women.

I've never had a good beer out of a can, even when I pour it into a glass. I had Gordon's Ale on draft a few weeks ago and really liked it. But you can only buy it in cans at the store. The flavor out of the can was dulled quite a bit.

And the thread gets even that much dumber.
