The same but use 2 parts tequila

That sounds pretty good, but I prefer to go heavier on the tequila to lime juice ratio and use less of the Grand Marnier or Cointreau (I prefer Cointreau) My recipe:
3 parts silver tequila 2 parts fresh squeezed lime juice 1 part Cointreau over ice
This is spot on. Nothing ruins a good margarita like dumping a bunch of sugar in it.

I get the, "But that's not a real margarita!"
I don't care, that's the real margarita's fault not mine.
I venture to say anyone who's stepped foot into Tommy's now considers that a real margarita. I lived real close to it for a while and even though I wasn't crazy about the food, my wife was, I never missed a chance to go.
My wife and I made the mistake of drinking two pitchers of the house, Hurradura Silver I think, margaritas once and we almost could even get up to leave.

1 part triple sec
1 part Cointreau
2 part sweet n sour
1 part sauza silver
1 part sauza gold
2 part simple syrup
Little lime juice
Garnish with a peperoncini pepper and add a little of the juice into the glass from the jar.
It was called the picacita at vacceros restaurant back in the day. It's awesome.

People who argue shite like that for something like a margarita are just ignorant douches -- which are the worst kind.
There's no "real" definitive margarita. The origins of the drink are not even clear, much less the definitive set in stone contents, besides tequila and some semblance of lime.

1.5 ounces each of tequila, lime juice, and agave nectar. 1/2 ounce of Grand Marnier
This is my recipe as well. But I use a little less agave nectar and add a splash of OJ.

Best thread ever on here. thanks

If you go the "splash of OJ" route, also add a tiny dash of olive juice. Shake with ice then strain into a glass in order to make the Austin-created Mexican Martini.
Enjoying one right now, with the OJ component coming fresh-squeezed from my neighbor's Satsuma tree. That makes it healthy, right?
