love the salt lick and been there many times
the family style menu is great and the setting is perfect
It’s not the best Austin area BBQ by any stretch but it makes me happy
Don't forget to save room for the blackberry cobbler.

I would throw Kreuz's Market in there as well. All three are solid places in Lockhart. Would love to eat at Franklin BBQ one day but I'm not going to get in line at 6 am to do so.

When I was in town a month or so ago, it was pre-order online only and you actually wait in your car in a wrap-around block line and they already have your food bagged up. That might be different now.
Terry Black's (where I went instead) was only ~40 minutes in line when I went around 11:30 or so on a Sunday. Must have gotten lucky not waiting 2+ hours.

Treaty Oak Distillery (great brisket)
Alice's Restaurant! My buddy is the pitmaster there. He actually worked the pit at Valentina's before he went to Treaty Oak so he definitely knows his shite.
I've never made it out there since he started after I moved away from Austin, but it's on the list. Plus, he gave me a bottle of the bourbon last time I was in town, so I want to drink it at the source.

I just watched a video of Baby Back Maniac on YouTube and that's what they did. Pre-ordered and got to the place, parked and literally waited 10 minutes and their food was brought out. Video was from 3 weeks ago.

There's no way I'm going to Austin and NOT having Franklin's brisket...lol.

Most of Treaty Oak's bourbon is MGP stuff (from Indiana). They do have 1 on site distilled bourbon but its pretty disappointing. Its a great setting though.
