Nine-year-old Avery Kyle is on the new season of MasterChef Junior. Airs on Fox in Baton Rouge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Nice write-up on Avery in 225 Magazine based on last week's season premiere.
She survived last Friday and tomorrow night she will appear in episode 2. Please tune in to support our local talent!

I've watched this show a few times. First time I saw it, the kid cut the shite out of himself twice.
ETA: It was a show with kids vs adult chefs, but the chefs couldnt use certain things in the kitchen. I think this was it.

I watched the first show. She got a lot of air time. There was a boy from Houma on, as well, I believe, but he was cut.

I've been taping it and caught up on them. Avery is cute, but a few weeks back she said "pee-can" and I had to wonder if she was really from Louisiana. I rewound to make sure I heard her correctly.

Didn't need a map. I know how it's pronounced here. It's not "pee-can". I thought it was odd that she pronounced it that way. Are her parents from elsewhere. That may be it.

Maybe she was instructed to deny her own dialect in order to increase national appeal. Just kidding. Kinda.

I doubt it. Would be hard for a child under pressure to remember to do that.
Maybe her parents are from one of the other colored areas of the US...the green area.

Her parents are from Baton Rouge. They are house builders and the mother is a pretty active construction attorney. Her grandfather is Dan Kyle who was the state legislative auditor and ran for insurance commissioner. Their kids go to school with mine and they are members of our church. Very nice people.

One of the other contestants said "pee-can" so they all started making fun of each other and the different ways they all said it. This apparently lasted throughout the day and as they were still goofing off at the time of filming, Avery said "pee-can" on camera.
For what it's worth, she is from BR and says it like most here in town. I was a bit surprised when I heard it on the show as well....not that any of that matters.
Show airs again tomorrow at 7:00 on Fox. Please watch if you can.

Just a quick update - on last Friday's show, Avery advanced to yet another week on MasterChef Junior. Next episode airs tonight on Fox at 7:00 p.m.

The show is so fake and full of silly drama, but I still watch it.

The "pee-can" thing was explained in a previous post. Made sense, but yeah, there's some added drama, though with kids, they're pretty good actors if they are re-shooting things for dramatic effect. Not sure how it works with the kids.
