Any of you guys been to one of those places that were on Bar Rescue? Did Taffer's changes help/hurt much? Just curious, but it seems like a lot of them fail or change back after the renovation.
I know Spirits on Bourbon was a huge success, but I never been. And they did Big Mike's in Denham after the 2016 flood.

havent been to anything but spirits, but Id imagine that's the type of place that would benefit most. I cant imagine a local dive bar benefitting much from rebranding, so I bet owners use him for free upgrades then switch back. Some of his concepts are cool, but I find most of them to be kinda over the top cheesy...they come out looking and sounding like a themed bar you'd see on a cruise ship

also seems like a place that you have to actively try and mess it up. you have thousands of people on your doorstep every night and somehow youre going out of business lol

I just love how his solution to every bar is adding food. 'Customers stay 38% longer when theres food available!' This is of course yelled at the owners like theyre kids.
His food cooker thing he always put in there was awesome when they didnt have a kitchen. Hotdog in one side, hotdog out other side. WOW that tastes great!
I dont think the guy could stand 5 minutes in an actual dive bar without having a stroke. The show is fake as hell so I just stopped watching it altogether

It really depends on the reason they were failing in the first place. If the problem was the owner or the location, that won't change no matter what Taffer does.
I read somewhere that he gets part ownership in all the bars he does on the show, and takes a percentage of the profits. My point being, you'd think he'd cherry pick the ones he thought could actually be profitable. I'm sure there are bars well beyond bar rescuing.
Taffer knows his shite. It's a great show.

Yeah he's definitely not running a charity

His restaurant sucks
looks nice, food is basic and bland. Service blows

His brand is so huge/corporate at this point, I wonder how much he cares about one restaurant failing here or there.

Looks good on paper. Doesn't work

Its the only and first one of a new chain he is starting with his name on it. Id hope he would care.
I dont see it lasting too long in its location, all the other restaurants near by have far larger crowds

It really is and I for the most part have too... it became clear he was manufacturing problems to yell at people for. It was one thing when he was yelling cause a cocktail was shite or overpoured, but when he started walking around with a thermometer to temp beer and yelling at people...come the frick on

The featured Speakeasy in Kenner near the Treasure Chest a few years back. I went in there a few months after and asked the bartender about everything they did and the show experience.
She said they did some improvements well (karaoke equip., and POS) and some terrible (crappy paneling covering bad bar and bad painting). She also said they made some girl be late on purpose and then fired her for real.
The new place was closed within a year I believe.

I haven't, but my main squeeze has known one of his consultants (Russell) for years and BOY is that guy a train wreck. I guess he's a good mixologist but he is a mess of a person.

I remember him. Don't think he's been on the show for awhile.

He hasn't. Allegedly, he's down in St. John opening a bar. He's been opening it for like 2 years. He was also supposed to start a bartending school.
My understanding is that he has been asking for donations but somehow still doesn't have enough money to open his businesses.
Like I said, he's a mess.

I’ve been to big Mike’s and I think I went to a place North of Phoenix on 1-17 but can’t remember the name.

They somewhat did this at TJ Quills. The guy they fired though didnt work there. He used to work there and they just called their friend back to get fired for the show. Lame

Thats what made the decision so difficult.

All the regulars are back at Big Mike's. They're still doing pretty well.

He doesn't get a percentage of the future profits. Most people just take the equipment upgrades and sell the equipment they don't use going forward.
