Has anyone has had it and do you jazz it up with anything like hot sauce.

It's not something I would typically order at a restaurant, because they charge a fortune for what is essentially toast with avocado smeared on it. But it's an excellent quick, (mostly) healthy, and filling breakfast to make at home in the mornings.

Toasted sourdough bread, pickled red onion, fried egg, Trader Joe's "everything but the bagel" seasoning, and some Cholula hot sauce.

I eat it for breakfast all the time with S&P, yellowbird hot sauce (jalapeno), and egg (over-medium or hard-boiled and sliced).

The key is to let the avocado get pretty brown. It's easier to spread that way. Almost like peanut butter.

Holy crap that is exactly how my GF made it on Saturday down to the seasoning. Never had it before so I let her make it. It was pretty tasty. Next time I'm gonna make her put some bacon on it. I would never pay for it. Hell I rarely ever pay for breakfast unless it is a chicken biscuit.

Same. It's crazy what they charge in restaurants for avocado toast. When I usually see it on a menu it hovers around $15.

Edit: I just looked up French Truck's menu because I knew they offer it. $6 for one slice, $10 for two. But if you want to add an egg it's another $2, adding protein is another $3. So it COULD get as high as $15.

Had some the other day that was delicious. Toast, fig preserves, avocado, prosciutto, and a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese.

I like it pretty plain. Just avocado and chunky salt on some good seedy bread.

It makes for a good quick and easy breakfast.

Mix a small amount of smoked salmon in it.

Shaya used to serve it on a good toasted bread with smoked chunks of white fish on top. I can't recall anything else about it other than it was good.

I would think it would be good on Dave's seed breads, toasted.

It's in my regular breakfast rotation whenever avocados are cheap. I like a whole grain or sourdough base. Lemon or lime squeezed over the avocado, coarse salt. If I'm hungry, I'll add a soft fried egg or a couple strips of bacon. I'm perplexed by its popularity, though: I've been eating avocado BLTs and turkey-avocado sandwiches for years. It's not like avo on bread is so revolutionary.

I don't order at restaurants because of its price, but something I like to make on the weekend. Typically, I'll spread avocado on sourdough, add a single egg + prosciutto, and top with hot sauce.

That's the funniest thing to me about this whole avocado toast fad. Most of what I see people eating as avocado toast is just a breakfast sandwich with avocado added to it

This. Plus S&P and a squeeze of lemon.

By the time I'm done "dressing up" my avocado toast, I just make it into a sandwich.

Avocado is great in sandwiches.

Or just add some lime like an almost guacamole and keep it fresh
