I’ll be there next Monday and Tuesday night, staying by the airport. I’m open to go anywhere in town for a great place to eat. We could do steaks, seafood, fine dining, or anything that we can only get in Atlanta.

What places can I not leave without eating at?

I ate at a place called Argosy in east Atlanta. Upscale burgers and American food. Their beer list was incredible which was the main reason we went. It was a cool spot.

Argosy is great, we usually end up there Thursday’s after bocce. East Atlanta village is one of my favorite neighborhoods to eat and drink in

This person knows what they speak of ....
All reasonably close to airport and solid dinner recommendations

Argosy is fine for a couple of beers and bar grub but the others are much better experiences

If you like a good burger and large beer selection, Vortex Bar and Grill. Little Five Points is the original (and best) but the one in Midtown is still good if that's closer.

The fried pickles are damn good too.

Yea argosy is bar food, cypress street pint and plate is another good bar food spot. The local for the best wings in town and cheap beer (plus it’s across from the Claremont lounge). They are all pretty divey. For more high end bar food and cocktail programs, that’s where kimball House and Ticonderoga club shine(as evidenced by their James beard award finals appearances this year)

For the love of god, don’t go to the fricking vortex.

It reminded me a lot of Greenville Ave here in Dallas. Really cool area.

Wrong. Locals eat there all the time. It's a favorite of my local office. It's a favorite of my inlaws who lived in walking distance for years. Yes, tourists go there too because it gets alot of recommendations from people like me.

OP- It is essential to get the pot-likker for cornbread dipping.

My go-to is chicken fried chicken with creamed corn (freshly shucked, you even get occassional silk in it), and blackeyed peas. I know I'm supposed to get something green, but you don't go to Mary Mac's to eat healthy food, so I always say fckit.

They also have the best key lime pie in town, it isn't that fake green shite. It's yellow like it's supposed to be.

I love that place.

Forgot about gun show. He’s got a new place opening on the belt line called cold beer. Should be pretty nice. Massive development in O4W

If you’re craving oysters, Optimist is the place to go. They normally have 10-15 different types and their staff is knowledgeable. Their seafood entrees are solid as well.

Gunshow, as someone above mentioned, is a fun atmosphere as well. Everything I’ve had there was great, but their menu changes weekly. If personal space is your thing, don’t go there.
