Headed to Asheville for the week of thanksgiving. I know it's a great food place. Anything not to miss.

I don't know if it's not to be missed, but I had a pretty great meatloaf at the Early Girl Eatery when I was there. They seem to be pretty serious about using fresh, local ingredients.

Pack's Tavern was a pretty cool casual place. Reminded me of the Chimes, in a good way.

Visit the Sazerac It's run by a New Orleans native who used to own the Howlin' Wolf.

Tupelo Honey if you don't mind a long wait.

There will be no shortage of bums. Visit the drum circle if you get a chance

Salsa's, Mexican place downtown

Corner Kitchen, in the Biltmore Village

Tupelo Honey is good for sort of granolaey stuff

Couple of good brewpubs mentioned above

Yeah, as also alluded to, watch out for the grungey hillbilly type bums, otherwise it's an awesome town.

We went to Bouchon while in town for the TN game. Very impressed. I believe they advertise as "French comfort food." Also, id do dessert at french broad chocolates... probably will have to wait in line (line was out the door @ 11pm) but its worth it. Enjoy

How about Asheville drinks? I was like a kid in a candy store last time I was up that way. So many good breweries. I recommend Highland, French Broad, and Pisgah. If Highland has their winter ale out, grab that. So good.

Someone mentioned Pack's Tavern, and I second that. It is downtown and has good portions and good beer. If you like pizza you should try Barley's Taproom, also downtown. If you like beer, both of these places are good. Tupelo Honey was over-rated and not worth the wait IMO.
But do NOT go to Carrabba's if you like beer. They served me a $4.85 draft beer in a 10 oz skinny glass. That must be their way of making it through the tough times. I will not go back.
