Arkansas fans coming down for Mardi Gras

I'm not sure if this is the right board for this but we are looking for some suggestions for some food and stuff to do while we are in NOLA.
What are the good touristy places to go to and the ones to stay away from? And any hole in the wall places I'm always down to try out. It will be my first time down for Mardi Gras but not sure about the other people in our group.

This is somewhat touristy but it's still fun. Assuming you are young, you need to go to Pat's O's during the day at one point. Spend a day (not during a prime night parade like Bacchus or Endymion) walking around the quarter (not just Bourbon). If youre in that area, you got to try the food at Coop's Place, Verti Marte, or Johnny's (among others).

Might I suggest coming at Jazz Fest. The amateurs are in NOLA for Mardi Gras, JF is for the pros.

Being from Memphis, I doubt it's much worse.

Where are you staying?
where will you stand for the parades?
this would be helpful info.
really though, once you get to town you'll want to see the parades. Before the parades, you'll want to pre game and catch a buzz. After the parade you'll want to continue the party. You'll prob catch on quick that finding somewhere to eat goes to the backburner.
your location will help give some recs though. Whether you'll up uptwon or downtown, there are some options all around

No clue. One of my buddies asked if I wanted to head down for Mardi Gras with them and I'm pretty much tagging along. His GF is part vegitarian (won't eat anything but chicken) though and always picks crappy places to eat. I'm trying to prevent that with a few suggestions. I'll find out though.

If you don't mind stoners toking up in the courtyard, turtlebay cafe is a hidden gem for some solid pizza. Jmo

yea, i mean its hard to help you make plans when you dont have any yourself
mardi gras is a clusterfrick. It's hard to just say hey "go here or go there". its helpful to know the area you'll be in

Stay sober and regret your mistake as it happens. Get drunk and regret it afterwards. These are your only 2 choices.

Of course I text him to ask where we are staying and he doesn't have a fricking clue.

So tracked down the location. Travel Inn in Metairie. Dunno if they are wanting to stand for the parades or not but most likely since thats the whole point? I always just assumed it was drunk dudes throwing beads and topless chicks, which is why I'm going.

Green Goddess would be a perfect spot.

IDK how familiar you are with New Orleans but thats nowhere near where you want to be for the good stuff. Not saying it's impossible to get around but you're going to have to do a lot of cabbing
