Are there any full sushi buffets on the Northshore?

I'm looking for a place like Kaminari in BR, but in Mandeville/Covington. Are there any of those types around the area?

Don't think so. There is a Chinese buffet place on Highway 21 next to the new Winn-Dixie that has a better than average sushi/sashimi selection. I normally don't care for these places but clients always want to go to there and it's better than average.
For sushi, I dumped Megumi and Sake Garden for Kazoku, Hywy 59 in Mandeville. It's my favorite Northshore sushi place.

Don't know
But you should definitely go to Megumi and just order off the menu
One of the big rolls would be enough to fill you up

Just peaked at their website
Definitely going there next time I'm working on the north shore
Especially if you prefer it to Megumi

It is funny you said Kazoku. I ended up going there without reading this thread. It is BY FAR the best sushi I have had on the Northshore. Megumi is no longer my go-to place.
Eta- the Black and Gold roll was the Tits! The salmon sashimi was some of the freshest I have ever tasted too

Not sure if this is true, but the head sushi chef looks like the old man from Lil Tokyo. Can anyone confirm?

That's my favorite roll. They have pretty good daily lunch specials. The ocean salad is awesome, too. Megumi was my favorite, but we started going to Kazoku because it was so close to the house and that's the only place we get it from now. Ask for the "spicy mayo". It's their white sauce and spicy sauce mixed.

Is this a buffet or a "from the menu" sushi place?

Not a buffet but by far the best sushi I've had on the northshore is Yujin in downtown Covington, off New Hampshire, little hole in the wall place. Get the New Orleans roll or just have Rico (the owner) make something up for you.

Yep, that's him.. His name is Phong (sp) and his family opened the place. Kazoku translation is "Family" and by far my go to place for sushi on the northshore.

How is sushi so awesome on the north shore?

Miyagi sushi is the place you are talking about. I went a few weeks back and thought it was pretty good.
