That is what happened at Fox's pizza Den in central. Doors locked and the employees got a text to not show up for work they were closed.

A business owner would very rarely tell employees ahead of time, why does this surprise you?

That's a lot of work to see if the Applebee's you frequent is closed. Just go to another one in br.
Thanks Einstein. Obviously, you missed the part where I said that I'd never eaten there.

Well I've never heard of El Paso Mexican Grills but I'd be willing to bet its along the lines of an Applebee's type?
They're not a national chain, but do have six locations in LA. They have slightly above average Mexican food (FAR better than Casa la Vida just down the road on Coursey), but nothing overly authentic because they don't serve lengua for instance, so it's not like a hole in the wall place where no English is spoken with strictly Hispanic clientele, but the food isn't bad. Sometimes I'll simply enjoy 2 fer 1 margaritas on their patio. Not sure if they'll build a patio at the BR location however. They have a larger than normal menu, and the seafood dishes aren't too shabby.

I think they may be in for a rude awakening though, because as you may remember, Duang Tawan USED to be a Mexican restaurant, but it didn't make it in that location.

Next time I talk with the owner, I'll report back with a timetable as to when they will be opening.

The obvious joke is obvious.

Unless there was another Mexican place there that I am not aware of, that was Mestizo's original location, and Jim moved to his current spot because he needed more room. Mestizo did well there. A decent Mexican place might do ok.

Why would anyone care so much if Applebee's is closed? Wow

Wow?? Jesus Christ people, this thread was about how they treated their employees when they allegedly closed, not who should care IF Applebee's closed

Alright, I had to get to the bottom of this. I just called and they said that Saturday will be their last day. Not sure why they would close and then reopen today.

...and yes, even though I've never eaten there, I expected to catch heck just because it's an Applebee's.

Thanks, didn't know that. The few times I was in Mestizo's it was fairly empty. I do believe that area could use a decent Mex place, as Casa la Vida just isn't that good. I really miss Montana's (Columbian).

The last thing the corporate legal department wants is disgruntled employees having enough time to steal/vandalize or harass customers.

Isn't that what usually works at these places?
