McDonald's uses them heavily in Europe.

I used the one in Barcelona. Those things are awesome (especially when your Spanish sucks).

Idk about you but I miss the McDonalds/fast food when I'm out of the country for awhile.

Not near as good in most cases, but still a little bit like home.

It's a great idea. Going to put a lot of college students like myself out of a job soon though. Thank The Lord I'm about to graduate.

I definitely see the need for this in quick service settings where they get your order wrong 50% of the time. I can see where this could be the wave of the future at your outback/chili's/'Bees type of place. As for higher end dining places? I don't know, this might be the end result. I wonder, but I think it will be at least a generation before all bartenders and servers will be obsolete. Im hoping to sneak out another 15 years in the business.

Am I the only person who thinks at least SOME human interaction should be done without looking at a screen.

I mean Jesus Christ people can't keep their eyes off tier phone while they're out eating as it is.

Idk this shite is just weird to me

So advancement in technology is a good reason to minimize actual human interaction?

advancement in technology will only happen if we're already OK with that

plus if this improves efficiency in this arena, we should have more time for that anyway

Didn't you watch the video? The couple without the tablet played on their phones, but the couple with the tablet interacted with each other, were much happier, and then went on to lead much better and more successful lives.

So when the service industry and retail jobs are dominated by computers what jobs will the college students and people without a college degree do?

There's something to be said about the things working a shitty service industry job teaches a person as well.

Is all human interaction a positive for you? Because I have to say, it would be really great for me to cut a lot of it out of my life. If the wait staff is part of the experience of a place, that's one thing. But fricking Applebee's? Just get my food to me ASAP and let me go about my day.

when we have self-driving cars, what will cab drivers, limo services, and truck drivers do?

what did the horse and buggy makers do when cars came about? what did farmers do when technology replaced 90% of their workforce?

The same thing people have done throughout the entirety of human existence every time a particular job has been replaced by technology.
