Brothers friend works for anheiser bush and says what theyve delivered to the stores is the last of it until further notice, maybe until this all blows over.
any truth to this?

Finally local brewers have the upper hand in the market.

Maybe we go back to old times with neighborhood suppliers

I would guess that they are only going to deliver too the major chains and big box stores...it just won't be just be beer and liquor either....
I bet the small mom and pop stores wont get deliveries from most wholesalers...
The food wholesale company that I work for is starting that policy the first week of april...only grocery stores are being made....small little independents are not untill further notice...

My friends that own a brewery say that the distributors aren't taking any new beer from them because they don't have anywhere to take it with restaurants and bars being shut down. Maybe this has slowed distribution down to a halt in general? I don't really know. Just guessing.

Lol no chance. That would be incredibly stupid. On premise sales are dead right now with the shutdown so off premise is KILLING it. Every store that is open and has alcohol is selling it like it's the holidays right now.

There's no chance a company is going to look at their restaurant/bar business dying and say "you know what, we should kill the off premise business too even though it's increasing hand over foot." It's basically doubled overnight. Everyone is stocking up on alcohol right now.

Yeah that's 100% talking about kegs. Anything in a bottle or can ready to go is being moved right now. We've been moving restaurant/bar only products to retail now since they'd just sit there in the warehouse otherwise.

This is just great (not).

My best girlfriend and I need about four suitcases of Warstiener per month. Warstiener is imported from Germany.

Pretty sure Binny's, which is a Chicagoland chain, isn't accepting packaged beer until further notice.

ETA: Luckily, plenty of other stores that I frequent, too.

I have a supplier that refused to ship to me from Gulf Shores to Florida as of last week. I think there's going to be some small time distributors that are Covid Panicking that could shut down due to company policy.

This is where I see the first mass panicking starting, because some small distributions will shut down which will put pressure on the big guys that won't be able to keep up for the time being. Thus causing a panic.
