Probably the same stuff they use in their seafood dept. It's pretty decent. I pick up their boiled shrimp and use it to make salads or shrimp dip every now and then.

pretty sure it has 480 mg Sodium ... I’ll pass as I prefer more spicy flavor and less salt

Yea but Lil Donny hand selected the spices. You know it’s gonna be better than anyone else’s.

What story did I miss on Rouses since I've moved away? Used to be GOAT.

JMO
Trying to get too big too fast. Quality going down hill. They cater to the high dollar areas the others get the leftovers.
And I don’t think they were ever GOAT.

Haven’t been to a down the bayou one in years but they were great. I thought the LeBlancs stores that Rouses acquired here in BR were bad... shite was I wrong. Spoiled meat constantly. Terrible staffs. Shitty produce. Bad item selections.

Rouses has also gone big time private label to increase their profit and market share. They track what name brand products are selling, have a food chemist and nutritionist duplicate the recipe/ingredients, then put their name on it. Walk down any aisle on you will see countless items labeled ROUSES .... chips, pickles, jambalaya mix, red beans n rice, mayonnaise, salad dressing, orange juice, etc... Prices are cheap to lure buyers in. The original or duplicated product eventually gets phased out. That's exactly what is happening with their own label crawfish boil.

Louisiana brand has an extra spicy version out, haven't peeked at the sodium to see if it's different yet.

I'm always a bit reluctant to try out new spices in a crawfish boil and try to stick with what I know produces a good product.

This stuff is prices right there with the Louisiana Seafood Blend and a few dollars cheaper than the Cajun Land Brand in the same volume container.

So? If the product is good who cares what the label says. Every store does this.

I'm guessing they use this stuff in their boiled crawfish that they sell out front. I had some from the Brightside location recently and they were pretty damn good. Much better than I was expecting.

The products are not the same when you compare the facts. Rouses boil ($3.89) is packaged in a 4 pound bag and has 480 mg sodium, which is 81% salt by volume. The Louisiana Fish Fry Products ($3.99) comes in a 4.5 lbs bag and has 380 mg sodium, or 66% salt. Rouses basically duplicated the powder boil recipe from Zatarains ... both have the same amount of salt, as Rouses added onion and garlic powder.
