Looking through different orchards and I have no idea what type of pecans are the best…each place sells one type, or I guess you can buy them from a wholesaler…kind of cooler to buy direct though.

Anyone ordered a 5lb sack you’ve been happy with?

Any specific type I’m looking for?

Cracked or uncracked? Seems the latter would last longer.

Any general area in Louisiana grow the best?

Aren’t the smaller the better (oil content?) when it comes to baking with pecans?

Little Eva Pecan Company, south of Natchitoches, has a good rep and ships pecans and related gifts. LINK

They have a store just off I-49, but you can't see it from the interstate. Exit to Hwy 1 at Chopin.

Yea, those are in the lead…4lbs for $40, free shipping.

They don’t say what kind of pecan they are though.

I get them from Tommy King Pecan Company and we get them cracked. You can freeze them. I think a 5lb bag of cracked was $16 this year, but shipping would, of course, be extra. I got Desirables this year, but I think they have either Elliots or Stuarts too, and other nuts and candies as well.

I buy local from a place here in north Florida. I prefer cracked. They are easy to shell and still freeze well. 5lbs won’t last long enough to freeze if good quality.

Another vote for Bergeron !!!!
Customer for close to 40 years.

Had a man who owned a pecan company in St. Martinsville many years ago, you don’t want our pecans. We ship them to candy companies in Ga.

Go to Bergeron, that is where we go for good pecans for our family and friends.
