If so, how good does it work?
ETA: does it really keep it good for months?

No.

No.

If you own a restaurant pouring super high end wine by the glass, it could make sense. If not, total waste of money.

So I like to have a bottle and drink a couple glasses with weekday dinners for a couple weeks. So if a bottle could last 3 weeks it would be worth $200.

Want to know what doesn’t last three weeks? A single bottle of wine at a two glass a day clip. You have some Nebuchadnezzars hanging around the cellar?

gzus, just buy a waiter's friend to open the bottle and a vacuvin to seal it up. I'm talking $12 total instead of $400 and it does exactly the same thing.

It’s “coravin”, and there’s no way that you’re drinking a couple of glasses a day from a bottle that’s lasting a couple of weeks, unless, as someone else mentioned, you have a Balthazar or Nebuchadnezzar or something.

We only use it for work. If you’re bringing expensive bottles around to taste customers on, it comes in handy. I don’t see the use for pouring a glass a day. A bottle only has like 8 standard glasses or 4 alcoholic glasses in it. That won’t last too long.

Is the bottle of wine you are opening for these casual weekday dinners a bottle of DRC? If it’s a $20 bottle of wine you aren’t saving $200 by prolonging it for a few weeks.

Was talking about like one day a week for 3 weeks. I typically don’t drink during the week that much maybe just a glass every now and then

My wife gave me one for Christmas a few years ago. I used it for a while, but I didn't find it particularly useful. For my purposes, the best application for it would be to drink a glass from an older bottle of wine without opening the bottle. But given that the device injects an inert gas into the bottle, it stirs up the sediment in the bottle, which basically screws up the wine, so it wasn't really good for that purpose. I also did a few experiments to see if I could take a glass out of an expensive, but relatively young bottle, then opened the bottle a few months later to see if it was still fresh. It wasn't. So I didn't find it particularly useful.

I think I found the solution to your problem: drink more wine

Same experience. It’s a good idea in theory but it’s simply non consistent and you end up potentially ruining a very expensive bottle of wine.
