Ponds over populated ate all the bate. No workers to peel tails so you have an abundance of peelers.

Except the price is cheaper now for the first week of February than last year and the avg for the last 5 years

It’s Feb 4th - it’s not even crawfish season - 15 years ago hardly anyone would be fishing right now - the general public pushes the season earlier every year
As soon as Christmas is over everyone starts begging for them

Every single year the farm price starts at $3-4 in Jan then drops to around $2.50 in Feb - stays around $2 through most of lent then drops to $1.50 after then ends up $1-1.25 by the end of May

Did you read the article or just the clickbait headline. Did you miss the part where it said “Prices have dropped $2 in the last 3 weeks“

Also previous posters were blaming the farmer but if farm price is lower but retail is higher, how is that the farmer’s fault?
