I've always preferred WC over NEIPA but do drink my fair share of NEIPAs. It seemed early in the NEIPA game they weren't as cloyingly sweet as NEIPAs have become today and I enjoyed those early versions more. Luckily a brewery near me has always had a WC as one of its flagship beers and has done other WC and Cold IPAs, which are similar to WC. And I brew my own, have a WC in a keg right now.

I'm going to guess you only drink Coors/Miller and call that stuff "real beer"

Yes! Just like how WCIPA had it's race to the highest IBU, NEIPA had it's race to the softest juice. If you had some of the earlier Heady Toppers, they had some more meat to them. They still kind of do compared to more modern NEIPAs. The biotransformation technique those early Vermont brewers like HF, Lawsons, and Alchemist pioneered warped into what we have today. Conan/London Ale yeast is amazing, but we've taken it too far, just like we took IBUs too far.

Honestly, no. I still like them a lot.
But I like WCIPAs too. And pilsners. And stouts. But for hops, there are a lot more options for fresh hazy IPAs than there are fresh WCIPAs. I don't want a Founders Centennial IPA from March, when there is 3 week old Ghost on the shelf.

No not tired of them, but I've always drunk other styles too. I'd say I drink about 50% NEIPA. My BIL drinks 100% hazy. I don't know how he does it.

I really like beer history. I've read too many books on the subject. I've said this before on here, but if you want as close of a representation to an original IPA as you can get, drink an Orval. It's essentially an old recipe British IPA and mimics the aging one would have experienced on it's journey to the East India workers. The "high" IBUs would have kept most souring bacteria at bay, and the brett would have scavenged the oxygen in the barrels as they sloshed around the ballast areas of a ship going to India.
It's interesting to see the progression from something like Orval to Ghost, but that's the evolution.

Absolutely. I can't even find Oskar Blues down here in South Florida.
I've always preferred to drink local, when I can, but all of the local breweries are brewing the hazy beers, which I like, but there is too much mediocrity out there. One note beers with no complexity or nuance - regardless of whether the beer is NEIPA or WCIPA.

This. I'm not tired of them, but I would like more variety. I drink mostly hazy because that is what is fresh and available.

Nah. Places like them, Lagunitas, and Ballast Point sold to big brands, and the big brands do what they do best and destroyed quality. It's part of the reason I'm such a big Sierra Nevada fan. They have stayed consistent to their ethos.

Grapefruit Sculpin used to be so damn good. I had it in its infancy while I was doing some work in San Diego. I remember being able to find it briefly in Nola Metro but it got scarce and I stopped looking.
