Everyone should see Roswell. It's unique, but in a cheap way. Blow up aliens at fast food restaurant, wooden cutouts of UFO's along the highway and the UFO museum.

We did pass the airplane junk yard. All sizes of planes from 747 to 737 lined up. I wonder if the public can visit?

I found out the hard way. Go read my thread on this topic on the Travel Board. White Sands was pretty amazing this morning and the drive from Alamogordo to Roswell through the mountains. We are going to Carlsbad Caverns tomorrow, but we are staying here in Roswell tonight and tomorrow night. We hitting the road before daybreak Monday so I won't even have to see this shite hole in my rear view mirror.

Carlsbad is pretty impressive. I just went in March, and really enjoyed it. Take your time, and bring a flashlight.

Was going to say, if you were spending a night in Carlsbad, you'd want to hit up Lucky Bull for dinner and order two sides of the green chili grits.

Carlsbad is a main spot for the oilfield these days. Big Permian operators liking that Delaware Basin in way West TX and SE NM more and more. Only problem with NM is having to constantly deal with the Feds and all their red tape to get the smallest thing done.

we spent a couple days in Cloudcroft and loved it there, but we would have been better off driving there and from there to Carlsbad at night.

We stopped at a little road side cafe in front of an old motel. The sign said top 15 diner in NM. I got a BLT with avocado, nothing to brag about but I did enjoy the ambiance.
