Going to Aspen mid-July. Any suggestions?

Turnover is a bitch in Aspen, so my recommendations might not even be in business anymore. Look for The Grotto if it's still there. For some good lunch check out the Hickory House, I remember it being pretty solid barbecue for an uppity place like Aspen. Also for cheap food look for New York Pizza.
As for fine dining, seems to me that only great places would survive in a small competitive town like Aspen... Come back after your trip and give a review; I should be headed there at the end of the summer.

I ate in a bookstore there and it was really good.
Also, I ate a mexican place with blue in the name, it was incredible.
Food overall in aspen is awesome. Look for celebrities. I saw Jack Nicholson there.

Yes, Montagna at the Little Nel is five star, as is D19. Both are exceptionally good.
My brother just got back from Aspen, working at Montagna for the season. We visited him this Christmas and ate at both places. You will thoroughly enjoy yourself, but be prepared my friend. It's far from innexpensive, but you will undoubtedly be treated to some of the best food you have put to your mouth. That place is a mecca for foodies.

I tried both Hickory House BBQ and New York Pizza. Both were good. (Another post suggested Blue Maize, but it had closed.)
We enjoyed Zane's for casual bar type food. Very good Philly cheesesteak and buffalo wings with Fat Tire on tap.
Su Casa is a very good Mexican restaurant. If you haven't tried it, give it a try. Lots of different items on menu that we do not see in BR. They use a lot of fresh veggies it makes a difference. Try the "Crazy Pig" (no pork)if you have two other hungry people to help. Jumbo shrimp, scallops, calamari, fresh zucchini, fresh peppers, and cilantro in a tomato based sauce served in a heated lava stone pig.
Wienerstube Restaurant just started serving dinner. If you like German/Austrian food, it was good, but the chef and waiter made it a great evening. If you are up for it, try the 2 liter boot of beer.
Aspen was beautiful, the food was good, the weather near perfect and I already want to go back.
