Hattie B’s is delicious. Anybody have an experience with making this amazing dish?

Are you in Bham? If so, you need to try Eugene’s. It’s better.

Definitely am a fan of the dish, but I don't know anywhere in Baton Rouge that makes a decent version outside of The Overpass Merchant.

I tried making it a while back but over did it on the oil for the “hot sauce” so it came out greasy and soggy. Will definitely try again soon

Recently had Hattie B's for the first time. Pretty good. Like Gus's better. Their Pimiento Mac and Cheese is fricking unbelievable though.

I love it. I had some at Prince's in Nashville one lunch after a solid night of boozing on Broadway and Midtown.
It was great and the heat is absolutely real. It takes regular fried chicken to a whole new level imo.
It absolutely helped cure, or better I should say "redirect" my hangover ailments.

Hot Chicken put me into the next level of pain during my hangover

Hattie B's is 'good blend of spices and flavor' hot. Prince's is 'why am I shitting blood lava' hot. Gus's is 'this is fricking amazing'!

I've had Bolton's and Pepperfire. I liked Pepperfire better, it was damn good. Bolton's was fine, more of a dry spice. We tried to get to Prince's, locals say its the best. Will definitely get by there and Hattie B's next time I get back. Hot chicken is addicting!

I got a Nashville hot chicken chick at Krystal in Corinth, MS last weekend. I think I need to withhold judgment until I try the real thing

Tried the Curbside special on Wedensday's yet?
Solid imo.

Can't get into it. Too greasy.

I didn’t like it. Idk it’s just like harder to eat chicken that’s sorta spicy. I didnt Get super hot but I think I underestimated the heat level I’m used to living in South Louisiana
Idk. I think I would Get the Sandwich if I ever went back.
The Pimento Mac and cheese at Hattie B’s was dope though.

I know they are different, but would you prefer the chicken at Hattie B's or Gus's? I've been meaning to go to the Hattie B's in Memphis, but I'm always closer to a Gus's location either at work or at home in Collierville

They arent really comparable.
Hattie's is blends of spices in the batter that make it spicy.
Gus's is hot flavored wet dip before the batter to make it a delicious greasy mess.
Both are great.
I prefer Gus's though.

Hattie B dunks it’s fried chicken into warm cooking oil with the dry spices mixed into it

Gus is not technically hot chicken. Hot chicken is dipped in spices after frying. It’s way hotter than Gus’s.

Get the hot fish at Bolton's instead of the chicken. Their chicken isn't that great.
Hattie B's is your go-to if you want consistency. Their heat levels are pretty dialed in and the chicken is typically pretty well fried.
Prince's is the OG, but they are inconsistent on their spice level and chicken frying. Medium will either destroy you or leave you wanting more. Bolton's is even less consistent. If you want Prince's and don't care about the experience of the original location, then hit up the location on the south side of town. Little to no lines and they serve beer.
400 degrees, Bishops, and Pepperfire are solid alternatives to the big names.

Here's a pro tip. Drizzle a little honey onto your hot chicken for the perfect sweet and spicy combo.

This in itself is worth a trip to Hattie B's.
