That's why Ham said you wouldn't like it. And perhaps you were drinking Heady Topper for months before this. And that's awesome. But if you are unsure about hops, it seems a shame for you to buy a 4 pack and then think it's not so great. Seriously, go out and grab it on draft.

I personally only try beers I'm uncertain about on draft before retail. The most recent example was Liquid Lunch by Terrapin. I tried it on draft, found it overly sweet, and so I left it on the shelves for those people that like that. That being said, if a new Imperial Stout came out, I'm buying it -- I know I like the style. That's all Ham is saying. Just know what you buy before you buy.

ETA: And finishing it out of principle is sad. I could finish whatever rare beer out of principle and hate it, thus depriving another person that loved it of that experience. It is the antithesis of the craft beer movement. Craft beer is not about principle, it is about, well, enjoyment. There is a beer for you out there. It might be rare, it might not. And that's irrelevant. Just drink whatever the hell tastes good to you.

I used to try to finish a whole beer that I hated "out of principle" but absolutely could not a few times due to distaste for the beer, namely the German Smoke Beer that I got when I was a member of Phillipe's beer club.

Oddly enough, some dudes in the group loved that shite.

ETA: My buddy went to Parish Brewery and bought his maximum allowed 2 4-packs, and he saved me one beer for me to taste. I appreciate that, because you must try before you buy.
