I don't think I've ever cooked beef short ribs before... going to need to do a little research on this one.

Neither have I but have been wanting too. Its probably the protein I would have picked so I can give this dish a try

If beef short ribs, I'm going to keep it on the Tuesday before T-Day. I'll make a post!

What if we do the Sunday before T-Day? Is that better? At one point someone requested that the challenges be on weekends.

I prefer week days. But I may be in the minority.

Congratulations to the winners. Many good recipes made their way into this competition.

I wish you had put in your other dish. That would have won IMO!

Hard to find good beef short ribs these days in the grocery store. I will have to go to the meat market, I think.

Aren't you the person whose son works at Fresh Market? That's the only place I used to buy them when I made them more often. Their butcher department sells them and they always look very good.

I agree that the packaged/branded stuff in your Albertsons-esq store never look very good.

I think Tuesday is good. Gives people the chance to cook on the weekend and not rush to the internet to post before the deadline, but also gives people with busy weekends a chance to cook on Monday/Tuesday.

I've gotten them from Costco before, but last time I checked (a month or so ago), there were none. Thanks for the heads up on Fresh Market.

I agree with this. I will usually do something like this on a weekend because during the week ms GT and little GT can get hangery if dad gets too fancy (taking too long) for dinner

I like the idea of cooking on a weekend and then submitting on a Tuesday... but really I'm good with either way.

I might even cook this weekend since I'll be out of town the following.

Sorry Jax, I didn't even consider that. HEB's meat dept has me so spoiled

Side note I just had a buddy send me some cream of Jalapeño from HEB. It seems they are the only one that makes/has it? Using it for a smoked queso dip

Yes, but I consider them to be like a meat market. They don't put their meats in a plastic wrapped package in a display cooler. You have to get them to pull the meat out of the glass case and wrap it for you.

Having said that, finding good English cut short ribs is hit or miss at Fresh Market. Sometimes they have the flanken. They don't always have the English cut, and I will be doing this on a weekend, so I may have to shop around a bit...

Jax, I forgot to tell you that I loved the way you did your pork tenderloin. It would’ve definitely been a contender.
