I fail to se this as a relevant issue in this thread....so I take it you have completely abandoned your previous argument in hopes of saving face. So be it...I will make up the billable hours another day.

If I am in Europe, I would say New Orleans.
If I am anywhere outside of the greater BR or NOLA areas, I simply say NOLA.
In BR or NOLA, I would say Old Metairie.

Please advise as to the relevancy of your question and as to the merit of my responses.

Furthermore, while we are on this line of questioning, do you tell people that you are a Bama fan or can people just tell by looking at your tooth?

If you are going to have the hotels full any way, would you rather have them full of Bayou Classic fans or Superbowl fans?

Exactly....I would take Ohio State fans over FSU fans every year for the Sugar. Wealthy, intelligent fanbase that crammed the airport, hotels and restaurants....everyone that I talked to visited the WWII Museum too...they were all blown away.

If someone lives in Old Algiers or Old Gretna or Old Mandeville or Old Covington...they would say the same. It is where I live. Metairie Rd, MCC and the surrounding homes look nothing like the rest of 1960's-1970's Metairie....we are OLD Metairie...its not my fault that name has become associated with living in a wealthy area.

I have been to the Chatanooga, Baltimore, and Atlanta....the NOLA aquarium is on par with at least two of those. Atlanta is just huge....I would need a second visit to fully judge the place.

I especially liked the comment on the article you linked in which the writer hoped Besh would serve SOS. I concur with that writer. SOS was my favorite breakfast while in the Army. I was fortunate to have better than average mess sergeants who understood that making the roux was the key step to preparing decent SOS. I'd love to see Besh's interpretation of this classic Army menu item.

you don't need a second visit for comparison's sake... the Atlanta aquarium makes New Orleans aquarium look like a 2nd rate kiddie pool... it's just that awesome

you've been to the Monterey Bay Aquarium? that's a real aquarium. it makes the NOLA one look like 1 exhibit.
That's weak.

Both the argument itself - the Monterey Bay Aquarium is arguably the best aquarium in the United States and probably top 10 worldwide - and in the the smooth-as-gravel-I'm-failing-to-win-an-argument-with-a-persuasive-presentation-of-facts attempt to change the subject.

Weak.

The Aquarium of the Americas is much nicer than the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, although the later is undergoing some form of renovation.

This is what he has been doing since I told him what's up on Page 2.

You're telling me that expanding the D Day museum is going to bring a new more cultered and more affluent tourist to NOLA. I'm telling you it won't or at least it won't have any material effect.

TA,

You might want to looking into taking your lady friend to the Roosevelt later July or early August. I was looking at the rates and you can get room for $143. This fall these same rooms will be going for $300.

If things fall into place for me, I am going to take my wife for her birthday. Hopefully the restaurant and spa will be open by then cause I am going to get those panties off.

Since you're counting, you misused "effect" as well...

ETA: Actually, you didn't. [Attempt to be clever and pithy failed]

I am saying that the birth of the Warehouse District, of which the WWII Museum will be the crown jewel, will bring a different kind of tourist down...one interested in the Ogden and WWII, as well as, Julia St. and the CAC...that tourist will find places like Tommy's, Eleven 79, Herbsaint, Cochon, La Boca, Rio Mar, WINO, Tommy's Wine Bar. Furthermore, having one of the best historical museums in America will generate tourism in its own right.

Can you not see how every local benefits from this? You stated that only I would care? Can you just acknowledge you are wrong....every local benefits by having yet another neighborhood full of cultural (see, I spelled it right) attractions, museums, restaurants, etc.

Damn...that's cheap...

Did you see on the site that the Sazerac Restaurant is opening in addition to Besh's Italian place....this seems risky....

I thought it was just the bar and Besh's place...but two high end restaurants? This corp really does have faith in the NOLA economy.
