Albi restaurant in Houston abruptly closes — as we showed up

Upscale Mediterranean restaurant that’s known for having a live DJ and belly dancers closed.
We had a reservation for 8 o’clock tonight, we showed up and the waitstaff and bartender were hanging out in the parking lot telling us that “the owner has decided to close and sell the business."
They said he pretty much told the staff to get the frick out. Totally crazy.
There were other people pulling up as well, we had to break the news to them. Craziest shite I’ve ever seen.

If you are looking for a cool atmosphere check out buena vista cuban cafe. They have a band most nights and people start dancing around 9-10pm and a great atmosphere. The ropa vieja is very good.

My coworker ate there last weekend and said it was packed as well, he’s how I found out about that restaurant in the first place

Something odd must have happened. I never head of anyone calling it in the middle of the shift. Must not have been about money or he would have taken the proceeds of the rest of the night.

Supposedly he sold out to the Cle' Group. They own a bunch of nightclub/restaurants in Houston and Dallas. At least that's what folks in the Houston Foodie Friends group (Cleverly's group) say. Evidently as soon as a deal was reached, they let everyone go and shut down. A lot of folks were saying the Cle' Group messes up a lot of stuff they buy. I don't know anything about them.
