My wife and I are planning a trip to N.O. in a few weeks. Our 18 year old daughter will be with us. I was wanting to take her to Pat O'Briens, not to drink (I am)and let her drink a coke or something. Can she even get in there at her age? Or do you have to be 21 to even walk in the door?

Pretty sure there are two segments to it. One anyone can get into, and then there is a back courtyard where you have to be 21 to enter and you are asked if you want a drink every 5 minutes.

Only been there once though, so I dunno.

Incidentally, I have only ever been wasted once as well.

Shouldn't be a problem during the day, but I doubt they are going to let her in at night. She should just use her fake id, every 18 year old has one.

If going at night, slip the door man a $20 for your daughter and you'll be good.

They actually have a door in the piano bar that goes directly to the street. If you can open this door without any of the staff noticing it's the best way to get in.

back in 1998 when i had my liquor license it was ok for an 18 yr old to go to a bar and actually drink as long as their parents were with them or if they had a spouse that was 21 or older. don't know if the laws have changed since then.

I tried a few years ago with my parents when I was 18 or 19 and was not allowed in with them.

It's 21 at night, but even a $5 bill with most of the guys gets you in...especially if she's with you.

not at all. if she is a white female, all she needs is an ID from a white female.

When they don't let her in, I'll take care of her until you and your wife come back.

Just be sure not to open or go in the door next to it.. You don't want your wife and daughter seeing what's goin on in there..
