Burgers at the Barcadia here were a huge letdown considering how good they were off the curbside truck.

Thought the same thing last time I went, but figured it was just an off meal.

Calling out the waitress by name, in a newspaper, was quite a dick move.

Wowwww. I didn't even notice that. That's a complete dick move. Poor chick.

The Advocate's strategy to write terrible reviews to win my clicks is working. From New Orleans I'm not interested in clicking on a professional review as much as I am Ms. Rose's reviews of Grand Asian Buffet (friend says “The spicy cabbage was okay.”) and New York Bagel ("New York Bagel may overdo the bagel theme" and another friend saying "My sandwich is juicy and hot"), and other places. Keem them coming, Advocate!

My favorite Advocate crappy review is when they send a writer to a sushi joint and and all they get is the California roll. Might as well send a vegetarian to Ruth's Chris.

I would never go or not go to a restaurant based on an Advocate review. They should let one person, with a food background, do the reviews or don't do them at all.

The food board Mavens should be writing the reviews for them

This is the first place I come when I want info on a place

It is so sad that the Advocate publishes these one-visit, didn't try anything popular, amateur reviews.

The Shreveport Times has a local school teacher writing reviews, and they are far better than what the Advocate prints.

somewhat disagree. A regular person would be fine if they developed a formula for reviewing (like a checklist), had some humility and tried a wide array of menu items over more than one trip.

Just like the chick that went to Louie's and ordered a seafood salad and chicken sandwich at 2AM and then bitched about the place.

Maybe they shouldn't put shite food on their menu. If it is on the menu, it should be fair game for a review, right? I think we can all agree that there are a ton of restaurants around here that really need to abridge their menus. Maybe a few bad reviews would be a good for places like Louie's that have been resting on the fact that they are the only game in town for the last 30 years.

You've always come across on here as a little slow.

You and miss Paul Allen should hangout. Would be a good match
