Ok. Bought some more American ale yeast. It's not wyeast brand or is it in a vial like the other times I've used. What do I need to do with this little packet if theres still no activity tonight?

All we did was take the packet and sprinkle it on top the wort, and gave the carboy a little swirl. Hopefully it works out for you. Ours hit it's final gravity about 48 hours after adding the new yeast.

Ok. That sounds super easy. Hopefully this will get things started.

Where did you get that yeast from? I know it's hot but I got the ice and it was still the hottest package I've received. Not too happy with morebeer.

The yeast that didn't work came from Austin Homebrew Supply. We did the cold pack too, but it didn't help at all.

I would think that for the next few weeks the best option would be Marcellos (pay out of teh arse) or Brewstock in New Orleans. Shipping yeast now is rough.

I agree. That's what we ended up doing for our last batch. Ordered the ingredient kit from AHS, minus the yeast which I picked up at Marcello's.

That's what I'll do tonight. I'll keep y'all updated. Thanks for the help.

Same thing happened with us a few weeks ago. No activity after 4 days. The yeast vial came in off the fedex truck about 95 degrees. So we grabbed some more at Marcello's and sprinkled on top, gave it a swirl and had activity within 12 hours.

Starters, people, starters. Use them. Love them.

What is exciting to locals, though, is the imminent release of Abita’s 25th anniversary beer. Any day now, Vanilla Double Dog—a robust porter sold in 22 oz. bottles—will make itself available, delayed because of a production snafu at the bottle manufacturer, says Blossman. It’s Turbo Dog meets whole vanilla beans, producing a popular underground hit the brewery has tested in party kegs, he says.

“It’s got roasted overtones and hints of vanilla and is really quite interesting,” he says.

I dont think that it fits many style parameters. I know it will be out by Sept 29th bc Stroube's is having an Abita dinner and that is on the menu.

Best looking abita beer pairing I've seen and the first one I'm going to actually try to make.

So you down for paying 85 bucks? I am seriously thinking about it.

I'd prob have to put down $170 and a sitter. That being said, its the only one I've even thought about going to. that menu looks delicious.

If I don't go to avenue pub for Zwanze day (which I'm trying hard for), I'll be pushing hard for this. Gotta pick my battles these days.
