A garden thread

Picked almost 3 lbs of Contender Bush Beans yesterday. They put out a lot and fast. I have about 20 plants and will plant more so I can put them up. Picked a few cucumbers so far. I planted really early and no cold weather allowed them to do well.

Hell, most of my garden is still empty. Thinking about getting a lot in the ground this weekend.

I just got mine in last week to. Salsa garden plus squash and zucchini.

Have been harvesting asparagus for about 6 weeks now.
Kale, Swiss Chard, Spinach, Arugula, Basil, Mint, Oregano, Thyme and onions all going gangbusters.
Had problems with my first tomato planting in early march. All plants wilted and died. Tried a 2nd time and same thing. Dug around and found grub worms so sprayed beneficial nematodes which did the trick. 3rd planting was a charm.
Was able to harvest rhizomes from my 5 year old hop bines and planted those. So I have 8 hop bine plants now.

I always plant around the first week of March since I start everything from seed in January and they are ready to be out of the greenhouse by then. I've only lost plants due to freeze after that date a few times in many years of gardening.
Got a dozen cucumber plants that have been producing along with my Contender green beans, Ichiban eggplant, and a few of my pepper varieties.
Still waiting on various peppers, red beans, butter beans, various squashes, potatoes, and around 80 plants of different tomato varieties which are all around 6-7ft tall now.
