Petite Amalie is a coffee shop, were y’all in a courtyard? That’s Cafe Amalie. Their inside bar is a really cool. Both inside and out are great spots to spend a 3 hour late lunch.
I agree with your stew assessment, precisely why I commented earlier that I don’t eat restaurant gumbo.

The problem is I cannot come close to making gumbo like my mom. Hell, maybe I will pay her once a month to make me a pot.

You can, just have to figure it out.
I knew they served a few things, didn’t know one was gumbo. Cafe Amalie is great FQ spot.
