What the hell is this?
The transformation of the Old Jefferson Winn-Dixie store on Jefferson Highway a Shoppers Value Foods store is underway, while Shoppers Value stores in Westwego, Harvey and Avondale have reopened in recent weeks.
The four Jefferson Parish stores were sold to Baton Rouge-based Shoppers Value in February and closed shortly afterward for renovations. At the time of the sale, Shoppers Value officials said it would take three to four months to complete the transition and reopen the stores.
Shoppers Value, which has stores in Louisiana and Mississippi, bills itself as a "cost plus, full service supermarket that focuses on selling groceries for less."
At the Old Jefferson store, workers could be seen inside working on the floor and other areas. New signage on the building, glass doors and the shopping carts already bear the Value Foods brand.
A Shoppers Value company spokesperson was not available for comment as to when that store will open.

A crappy discount grocery that is still a step up from Winn Dixie.

This chain is ran by 3 guys that all used to be Winn Dixie store managers in the BR area. Cater to low end clientele at every location.

I've been in the one on Jones Creek a few times. It ain't Ralphs but it's not terrible. I have noticed that they've generally replaced WD stores that were questionable areas in BR.

The one in Lafayette caters to VERY sketchy clientele. I went there once to get milk and I was the only dude in there without a neck tattoo. I noped the frick out of there.

I was afraid I was gonna get cut. Most of the times you go in a store and nobody even looks at anybody else. Dudes were straight up staring me down like it was my first day in prison. Nope.

were you worried about getting mud checked in the parking lot? Was it in the hood? I'll admit that I generally avoid stores in hood.

There are 2 in Lafayette. The only thing good about them is you can get chicken for really cheap.

Living in N.O., we have several Rouses Supermarkets to choose from and they are a locally owned and operated business, so I support them.
They will put chicken leg quarters on sale for as low as $.39 a lb., but most of the time it is in the $.69 a lb. range on sale. They will also put split breasts on sale for $.99 a lb. and whole chickens as low as $.79 a lb. from time to time.

We have a number of them in BR too. They are pretty meh. The LeBlancs stores they bought were better than any Rouses I've been in. Calandros is too.

I usually shop at Nunus or Champagnes, but I see the prices in the SV circulars. We have several Rouses as well but they are far from my house.

I checked their weekly ad and the prices are not bad..The WD they are taking over on Jefferson Hwy. was ghetto AF. Even I wouldn't go there..

So it’s not the same guys as the Baton Rouge chain of Shoppers Value who used to be Piggly Wiggly?

Went to the one in Walker, and they had a pallet of with sugar on sale, so I grab one get it home and bust it open to dump in my sugar container and saw little law things. Ended up being weevils. Was not happy, as I now had to throw away all of my sugar and the sugar I just bought.
Also, some stuff is priced close to WM and then some once you add the 10% ends up being higher than some Associated Grocery stores.
I won't be shopping there like I thought I would.
