Ruth's has always been better, but I had always considered Fleming's to be a solid 2 in the BR market for upscale steakhouse. Ruth's has always had the edge on the steaks and service. About equal on the sides. Actually liked Fleming's atmosphere better (Ruth's is a little too stodgy more often than not).

Today was the second meal in a row there that was disappointing. I chalked the last one up to an off night, but today was a redux.

Was a "brunch" theme and instead of bread with the usual cheese spreads, we got lukewarm biscuits that tasted like they came from a can with a partially melted butter and apricot "jam" that was basically a syrup.

Daughter's steak was brutally undercooked. Mine was borderline. Son's was fine. All three were ordered med rare.

Sides. Fleming's potatoes and creamed spinach were good. Creamed corn was apparently made with frozen corn and was served warm, not hot.

Service was good, but felt a little rushed.

Regardless, we're done, and apparently a lot of other people are as well since for lunch on Father's Day it was only about half full.

Too bad.

Ive been to the Mother’s Day version and it’s terrible. I don’t think Fleming’s is a bad place (though I prefer Ruth’s), but it’s horrible on those special occasion fixed menu days.

I would say that I don’t see why they bother opening on a shift they’re normally closed for, but if it’s packed each time, I guess I don’t blame them.

Edit - I see now you said it was only half full.

I've heard it's gone downhill recently. I haven't been to one in 3 years now and I'm not planning on going back anytime soon.

I’ve said multiple times on here that Fleming’s has gone downhill over the past several years. I usually get a few downvotes but idc, it’s the truth.

Problem is, they offered their full menu.

Plus, the previous visit was a regular night.

It's backsliding, and they better right the ship.

After 24 years in the restaurant industry some of my best advice is to not go out to eat on holidays

Had nothing to do with the holidays. I went on regular nights. It’s just not what it once was.

I've never been to Chris but I've always wondered what they do with the wedge that they cut out of their fillets?

I’ve heard several bad reviews about the new location in Metairie, including terrible management decisions.

Did you really expect to find a good steakhouse in BR? You'd be better off driving to Houston for a good steakhouse...

That's a terrible cook on that filet as well. So much gray on the edges.

They put them with the missing socks from the dryer.

Is Stabs on Jefferson good? I've eaten at the Central location once and found the steak to be solid.

Have not eaten there. A couple if people whose opinions on food I trust have said it (Jefferson) is nothing special, and somewhat overpriced. Basically, you could have a great meal/experience at Ruth's for less, so why go there?

I will still check it out, but it's not a "got to" right now.
