Should a camp sitting 20 ft high, but right on the river, be ok in Tunica?

Some relatives have some farms in northeast Arkansas. They've basically lost everything for a year.

ONe of my relatives owns the land that at least one of those casinos is on. They've been out of there.

Yes

THe place I hunt at in Vidalia on the river has cabins that are not high off the ground like the other camps in the area. They're fricked.

Maybe. I would say yes, unless the flood takes it down.

Talked with a couple river rats today. It has been coming up around a ft a day. Crest on the 23rd. Levee rated for 48 ft. it should get to 47.5(As for now, but you never know). River traffic will shut down, haven't got the ft. mark, they are still talking. Tons of work to be done on the docks along the river. Too much work to be done...

I don't have time to read through this thread, how are conditions around Memphis?

The water is about 1/2 way up Tom Lee Park. The news is talking about how Beale St is flooded, but there is standing water on Riverside DR at Beale St because a storm drain is clogged. You turn off of Riverside onto Beale and then drive up a 50 foot hill.

Harbortown is the residential area of Mud Island. Many homes out there will take on some water. There are pockets of communities that are seeing some flooding. But it's isolated. Other than that it's communities to the north like Millington, Covington, Dyersburg that are having serious issues.

Of course the potential of something really bad could happen, but hopefully not.

Glassmas was right about one thing. Saturdays game between the Grizz and Thunder has been moved from the Pyramid and rescheduled for The Fed-Ex Forum 4pm. Look for me on TV. I'll be wearing a white shirt.

I do. But at this very moment, I'm on an island in the middle of the Mississippi River.

Icansee4miles and the FW have been wanting you to get back to work. Icansee4miles said they'll welcome you back but bring a bucket

When they shut down river traffic does that mean all river traffic? or just barges? what about big oil freighters having to unload? Will they go to houston instead?

Unload/load, remember it goes both ways. Unloading feed stock (Crude, PGO, etc.), loading finished products/ blend stocks/etc. You have to move these products out, by barge, ship, truck, pipeline. Most plants have very little storage, some use barges as floating storage. Lots goes into this.

Icansee4miles is worried, his wife called me and said that they would be on the river (Not the Mississippi) this weekend. I may head out to visit this week with them.

I told him how to solve his camp problems. I tried to tell him, but his reply:

" I'm an engineer, can you put it on paper?"

Ok, so I put up a drawing and showed how to solve his problem......

Less than a week is what I'm getting. Things will start coming into play.
