I don't know where you are. I know in NOLA we were down somewhere around 3.7" for the month of April. I don't think we were down that badly for the year.

Trust me....I'm keeping track...and if lines have come through then it was defiantly not enough to be recordable.

Nola.com just posted a new article about Morganza being opened. The big catch is that no one is completely sure how long ORCS will last. Eventually it will fail. That idea has been reiterated to me personally by every engineering professor I had in school, and by every old timer I spoke with personally about 1973 at the Corps.

It's all going around me as well. I got sprinkled on last night. It didn't even settle the dust. That's the last I remember feeling rain.

These SW Winds keep all of the rain on the N. Shore.

From your article the Corps is quoted as saying the river would be flowing at 1.9 million cfs at Red River Landing at crest. A previous article quoted an estimate of 2.1 million cfs for the river at Natchez at 60' levels. Obviously this is going to be different because of the river width, depth, bottom contour, etc. Does anyone know how accurate these estimates really are, or are they simply blind guesses at this point as it pertains to flow?

So I hear they are going to put sandbags on top of the levee downtown. Anyone else hear this? Supposedly 2ft.

It is much different. They didn't blow levees to save Cairo. My friends hunting club near Clarksdale, MS only had the usually low spots get water. The entire 8,000 acres is covered by 4-8 feet of water. It is vastly different.
