re: Why is fantasy basketball not more popular on this board?

I've been playing in a fantasy basketball league for the past 7-10 years and enjoy it. Our league counts everything as 1 pt on a weekly cumulative basis. I only have to think about my lineup once/week and like how the # of games during the week can make lineup decisions interesting (such as if a bench player has 1 or 2 more games than an obvious starter).
FF obviously has a lot of very important games happening at the same time so I have much more attention on Sundays than Fantasy basketball that is spread.

I started it this year, and I don't know if it was because I didn't have time to prepare (found out about the league ~3 hours before drafting) or because I still have fantasy football going on, but I haven't really been in to it. I like fantasy baseball which is very similar set up, and NBA>>>>>>>>>>>>MLB IMO, so I'm not sure what it is, but my hunch is that its due to being at the same time as football.

How does scoring from fantasy basketball work? Is it a weekly type deal?
It’s weekly, but the players play an uneven number of games, and it’s based on total scoring. So you’re supposed to sit star players on certain weeks where they have fewer games than some average starter on your bench. Then the amount of points you score for certain stats is weird. And there are different formulas for scoring

I’m playing for the first time this year and enjoying it. You have to check/set your lineups daily but that’s not as big of a pain as I thought it would be. I just wish I had asked better questions about how the roster should be setup BC we only have one flex player and 3 bench spots and that creates issues. Should’ve went with 3 flex and 5-7 bench.

Thanks for the explanation... I’ve been wanting to start following the NBA, but the pels suck, so maybe getting into a league next year will give me a push in the right direction

There is different scoring, that one sounds terrible
10 categories, head to head vs another team. Each category worth a point. So you're looking at weekly matchup scores of 8-2, 6-4 etc.

Fantasy baseball > fantasy basketball > fantasy hockey > fantasy soccer > fantasy nascar > fantasy football
Football is the absolute worst.
The “having to set your lineups daily” for other sports is such a weak arse argument.
With the amount of time people spend during the week researching which receiver to start you could have set your basketball lineup for the entire month.

I wish that is how we had it set up, it's how my baseball league was, but basketball is total points so games have been scoring in the 500s.

Not all the time it isn't. On Saturday's and Sunday's in the fall it is absolutely possible to forget to set your basketball lineup.
With baseball you can be busy at work and forget to set it before one of the early games and have a player get an off day and is locked in or have a player on the west coast get an off day and not have any players left to sub in.

Fantasy Baseball and Basketball are better games...fantasy football is just boring at this point.

More NBA dynasty leagues on this board than there are NFL dynasty leagues.

I find fantasy basketball to be much more enjoyable than fantasy football. The amount of games also leads to less fluky teams winning. The best teams almost always win in the end

Ron,
Fantasy football is tic tac toe
Fantasy b-ball is checkers
Fantasy baseball is chess

The only fantasy baseball league I've done in the past 10 years, I won by not watching a single inning nor following baseball at all. Maybe I was lucky or maybe the Fantasy Board people in that league just sucked
