How many years have you been doing it and how is it going?

Can you briefly explain it, and explain it's benefits?

Did you have members in the league who were against it? How do they feel towards it after playing?

Just give a break down of pros, and cons to it If you don't mind. Thanks.

top 6 scorers each week get a win, bottom 6 a loss. None of the major sites provide the format so its a little more work for the commish to edit the match ups accordingly, but a pretty easy task unless he's a moron.

Cons? None.

I just charted it in one league and how it would have affected the standings:

-Two teams that would have finished well below .500 made the playoffs.
- I would have been the #3 seed instead of missing the playoffs entirely.
-One guy that finished the year 2-11 in the standings, would have gone 7-6 and grabbed the 6th seed.

Damn

I don't think it's that drastic this year in my league.

Why not just do total points throughout the season and top 6 make the playoffs?

you're still subject to variance then.

fantasy is a week to week game and this method rewards the most consistent teams

I think we have done a decent job of explaining how it works. I'm more interested in hearing how the league as a whole has reacted to the switch (from those that switched from h2h to high/low).

Was most of the league apprehensive to the change, and how do they feel about it after giving it a shot?

What were some of their concerns? And were any of those concerns validated by switching to high/low.

I voted against it in a league I play in on this board and have admitted I was way off on it. I'm not really sure why I was against it

These were the arguments against it when I proposed it to my league. Also, "that's stupid", "it's too complicated", and "dealing with less fair system is just the way it is." Bunch of fricking morons.

Because you can score 200 points for 6 weeks and 80 points for 7 weeks. That doesn't make you the best team.

Although, having the 6th highest score every week (resulting in a W) also doesn't make you the best team either.

In head-to-head you could technically be the second lowest scoring each week and still be undefeated with some luck.

Or the second highest scorer every week and have zero wins.

We use a sort of hybrid system. You still play against a single opponent every week in a head to head matchup but top 6 scorers every week get a win and bottom 6 get a loss. So you can go 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2 each week. Makes it more fair imo but still allows some for the luck factor. Commish just has to keep up with the standings on a spreadsheet manually so it's a little more work.

We haven't had any complaints with it. Most of the hardcore players in our league wanted it and pushed because they were tired of finishing as one of the top scorers and missing the playoffs. We had one year where the #2 and #3 highest scorers for the season missed and we decided to make the switch after that.

Exactly. The only argument head-to-head has is that's how it's always been done for most people and they don't like change.
