So you first time auctioners..what's your opinion on the auction, and do you prefer it over snake now?
Much prefer it to snake. I've been in baseball auctions so I knew what to expect. It's much harder to wing an auction than it is a snake.

I don't necessarily like the keeper aspect of an auction though. A lot more unbalanced trades (for the current year) to obtain cheap keepers than in a standard keeper league.

As a 1st time Auctioneer, I enjoyed it. It was definitely something different. I'd prefer it just because of strategy purposes vs a snake.

On top of strategy i think having access to every player is what makes auction the most desirable. It makes it more fun for everyone.
Exactly; I'm in the group that believes not all draft slots are created equal. It is possible to get screwed by draft position depending on what goes on prior to your 1st pick.

Auction>>>>>>Snake

Especially in a league like this.

I like the premise of an auction (I've done it in Baseball but not Football), but I found the pace a little difficult on a computer. I literally had trouble typing in my bids fast enough. I think an auction is better suited to be live with owners barking out their bids to an auctioneer. Other than the quick pace I enjoyed it.

Absolutely...in a snake draft this season, if you are in the top 3-5 you have a significant advantage IMO.

I've done baseball. This was my first football. I don't really think either is that hard as long as you know the players in the league and who you want. Everyone should pretty much know the relative value of players and the only strategy you really need is what position or player you want pay for - you have to buy at least one elite player IMO. Otherwise, you're sitting there at the end of the draft with $17 unspent.

i did this at first, and eventualyl just clicked with my mouse to bid up $1, until the bidding slowed down. Then it was a little easier to manipulate

I like my team, but I recognize my weakness at QB.

FWIW RT was the shittiest auction program i have used by a long shot. ESPN and YAHOO's are way better. I have done live auctions, they are fun just like like snake drafts. You have to get someone to run your auction for you though, give them free beer and food, i did it while drafting and it sucked balls.

It was pretty glitchy for me, and I wasn't able to access the popups so I have no idea what I was even missing out on.

My place next year for South La draft

I was also surprised Mike Williams hasn't drawn any interest this year. He wasn't good last year, but the projections for this year are even significantly worse than last year's stats. I think he bounces back some.

Was really happy I could get Alshon & Williams for $1 considering how shitty my draft was in the middle.
