Depends. If it somehow benefited the team tanking, I don’t have a problem. If the team who tanked didn’t get any benefit other than helping a friend, that’s bad.
I’ve seen teams throw games bc of trying to create a favorable playoff matchup or next year’s draft order. That’s typically the last game of the season though.
But I could think of a scenario where tanking would be okay

My brother still gives me shite for doing this years ago. It knocked his team out of the playoffs. I got the first round matchup I was looking for and ended up winning the league.

Literally the only scenario I can think of is if it benefits the team that loses somehow (maybe favorable playoff matchup?) but doesn't impact any other team's playoff chances. If it impacts another team by putting the team that was gifted the win into the playoffs when that team would otherwise not be in, it's not ok regardless of the help to the tanking team.
Honestly, even if it only helps the tanking team, I'd still be pissed about it, but it wouldn't be as blatantly wrong. And as you alluded to, there's really no way to know that for sure with multiple games left in the season.

See, in this scenario I think you were in the wrong. You helped a team get into the playoffs and knocked another team out. That's not ok IMO.

The commish is the one whos on the brink of the playoffs. His brother is the one who sat his players so the commish could win. Commish is 4-6, brother is 8-2.
I mean, you're 10-1. Presumably you're looking towards the #1 playoff seed. So, if this commish now sneaks in with the bottom seed and beats you, this move does hurt you. It's bull and should be reversed.
Would also like updates on how this all goes down

I could see a scenario this year where someone started hot with Zeke and Watson and now limping to the playoffs. If you played him last regular season game and he wins, you would have a rematch the next week in playoffs....I’d consider it after looking at the playoff matchups.

I most likely will have a bye week and getting zeke back in the semis, but like you said, if he sneaks in and knocks someone out or myself, it fricks up the entire league over this one fkd up idea

Throwing a game for any reason is pretty bush league and against the spirit of the game. It's at least kind of defensible if you are doing it to help yourself and not helping someone else, which would be cheating and collusion, but I think it's still a bitch move.

My thoughts exactly.

I have no problem in that case, but love it when it blows up in people's faces.

In that scenario, I made a move(by myself) and then...

Honestly, that's still bullshite IMO. You owe it to the rest of the league to give an honest effort and set a full lineup. You don't frick someone out of the playoffs because you think you will have a better matchup.

Could make the playoffs one year by either having my WR get like 23 points (unlikely) or his defense get 7 points. Him winning and beating someone else was also a path for me getting in.
He benched his defense on purpose for a perceived better matchup. Thankfully his defense only got 6 points so I didn’t rampage...but it completely changed how I viewed the guy.
That might be extreme... but only bitches make bitch moves.

So 3 teams including myself presented them w 3 options:
1. Both teams accept an L for week 11 and move on like normal
2. Give buy-ins back and completely shut down the league this year
3. Do nothing, risk losing friendships over bitch calls and also losing 3 teams in the league from here on out.
Balls in their court. Regardless 3 of us are out at the end of the year.

Just curious, why not present them with the option of retroactively playing Ingram and Julio? Seems like the most fair option.

To me pulling this type of shite, they both deserve the loss. I guess thats an option aswell
Posted on 11/20/17 at 7:24 pm to sonoma8
Just changing out what would have been the good play of ingram and julio is the best option. Imo.

scenario 2: also a bitch
Just play your players and try to win every game. Show some good sportsmanship to the rest of your league. I don't care if you "think" you would have a better playoff matchup by throwing the game. Just beat the other team anyway. That's not impossible.
