quote:averaged damn near 5 yards a carry and he was the first RB the pats paid. 3 million. They don't just hand that money out every year to RB's. It was more read between the lines with Burkhead
He barely did anything in Cincy.

They obviously see something I missed.

I liked burkhead's receiving ability and if he hauls in those 2 he made a solid effort on, one being a TD it wouldn't have been a bad night. If amendola is done, I'm still holding him

i rolled the dice with Burkehead in 2 leagues but was well aware of what the results may or may not have been.
thats the price of the gamble but there will be a week where it pays off big for sure.

Changed rather quickly lol
9th round steal. Gonna have to slide him into my RB1 spot next week.

I am not saying to drop him. I just agree with LE that Gilly is the best back in New England.
Posted on 9/7/17 at 11:55 pm to Vicks Kennel Club
I wasn't big on Gilly either until Les pointed out he should see some favorable game scripts. He's definitely the only pats back you can feel good about starting
Posted on 9/7/17 at 11:58 pm to Thias2685
Gilly had an average game without those PI calls in the end zone.

I find it interesting that a Bill Belichick defense had a former defensive lineman attempting to cover Kareem Hunt 30 yards down field

He's a better version of Blount last year. As some pointed out the patriots do get a lot of those calls. Hell, he could have had 4 TDs tonight but they inexplicably went to white on that one series after a pass int call

I'd trade Gilly if I had him. His floor is going to be real low when he doesn't score. Can see plenty of 20+ games with a bunch of 5-point weeks. Reminds me of owning Coleman last year. Was maddening. I don't think I started him more then one time. On the weeks I did, he had 50 yards and no TDs. Then he'd catch a ton of passes and score multiple TDs on my bench

Coleman doesn't have a defined role, so his TDs were subject to randomness
Gillislee has a defined role and while it's tough to bank on TDs, the opportunity will be there weekly in a good offense

15 carries for Gilly, and you would've seen more had NE held the lead
That's how Blount thrived. GL touches and then bulk carries while NE played ahead, which was a shite ton. Remember Blount saw 299 carries
He will be more than just a TD guy unless NE totally falls off. Don't think that's going to happen just yet

Once again Gyno, we are in complete agreement. I would also add that KC always plays NE very tough and I would imagine that Gillislee wasn't as much in the game plan for this game as he will be for other games. KC's strength on defense is their front seven, so the pass catching backs would be the more what NE came in looking to use. The goal line plays just happened to be kind of flukey in this game, but PI in the end zone isn't all that uncommon in the NFL.

Rough game for Gronk. He got shut down by Eric Berry

Brady did not look very Brady-like last night. Alex Smith, on the other hand, looked very Brady-like.
Hunt is legit.

Even good backs have a few down games.
Gilly can make big plays in the run game and he will. Their division sucks and when the schedule lightens up he's going to flirt with 100ruYds more often
Burkhead is a guy who they'll have to plug in for him if he were to get hurt, but otherwise he's just a passing game back.

I don't understand why some people just think he is some dude they picked up to join their committee. Like he is gonna be some bum unless he is scoring 3 TDs a game.
if I recall they signed him as a RFA from an inner division team. Like BB does that all the time
From PFF:
Gillislee earned an overall PFF grade of 76.4, which ranked 14th among qualified RBs in the 2016 season.
He averaged 3.34 yards after contact, the third-best mark among RBs last season.
His 43.3 breakaway percentage (percentage of yards which came from runs of 15-plus yards) ranked third among qualified RBs in 2016. He had 10 runs of 15 or more yards.
He ranked eighth among RBs with an elusive rating (how hard the runner is to bring down independent of blocking, taking into account forced missed tackles and yards after contact) of 57.6 last season.

Unreal what Hunt looked like.
Dude could get skinny in the hole, catch it, good at pass pro, dude has it all.
