"I think one thing that should be distinguished here is that the media is always taking Trump literally. It never takes him seriously, but it always takes him literally. ... I think a lot of voters who vote for Trump take Trump seriously but not literally, so when they hear things like the Muslim comment or the wall comment, their question is not, 'Are you going to build a wall like the Great Wall of China?' or, you know, 'How exactly are you going to enforce these tests?' What they hear is we're going to have a saner, more sensible immigration policy."

Peter Thiel is a champ. If I was homosexual I'd be all over him.

Oh, who would have though. The guy who shut down Gawker has some sense.
By the way, the Jezebel is absolute gold. If you want to see just how many idiots are out there go read about the all of the LGTB people crying all last night while trying to figure out how this could have happened.

This is very accurate. Trump has mastered hyperbole.

Thiel is turning into a regular Dave Rubin
rational marginalized (gay) people who are level-headed and have gotten tired of being forced on the plantation for EVERY issue and EVERY comment. these are the people the GOP needs to target to recruit.

I agree. I don't think anybody thought that we would literally deport 12 million immigrants. I think everyone thought he would come down from that position. You never enter negotiations with your compromise position.

Oh no I think there were a ton of people who thought this. The majority of his grass roots movement thinks this.

But I don't think it's the majority. Trump would have not won had people actually believed he would deport all illegals or ban all Muslims.

yeah just like DEMs didn't think Obama was REALLY against gay marriage in 2008

A majority of his grass roots movement not necessarily a majority of voters. I am talking about his most ardent supporters and rally attendees.
If he doesn't make good on a lot of these pie in the sky promises, he's looking at a one term presidency.

I agree with you slow. People like Thiel will ensure the GOP's survival. He's a candidate, like trump that appeals to people on both sides of the aisle.
He should try for a senate seat in his home state and see what happens.
