I am thinking about making a trip to Ville Platte, LA to pick up some Teets smoked sausage. Are these sausage worth the trip from Lafayette? Beef or Pork? Green onion Jalapeño Cheddar?

I think it's worth it; some others will tell you that there are others in VP (such as Paul's or B&S) that are better. All three are legit. At Teets, I like the regular smoked, jalapeno cheddar, and pepper jack onion. (pork)

No. They aren't. Their regular smoked sausage is oversmoked and underseasoned.

I like their andouille and tasso.

I find bourque's makes a better sausage. And I prefer the sausage at riverside in Plaquemine.

I get it delivered to Denver. Big fan of the smoked, jap cheddar and onion. I order the smoked turkey necks also for beans.

Have only had their smoked. It lived up to the hype. Great product.

That said, you can buy Rabideauxs at Rouses in Laffy.

Absolutely. The pork smoked sausage is the best around. Also try the jalapeño cheese and pepper jack onion for grilling. Delicious.

I like it. It's not my favorite, but very good. It's certainly worth that short drive to buy it and give it a try.

I've enjoyed Kartchner's very much, lately. Their hocks are my favorite. Great smoke flavor for beans, soups etc...

Teets green onion jalapeño fresh sausage is awesome as well. If you buy in bulk the shipping isn’t too bad.

Kartchner’s

I agree — they often get overlooked since they’re across th street from Billy’s, but they put out some great products.

The upside to a problem on the Basin is the detour past Kartchners. I like all their product, haven’t tried the hocks, duly noted for my next stop. A must for white beans and red beans. Their smoked venison boudin is atop the list along with Billy’s pepper jack egg rolls for my favorite boudin products right now.

Will say Teets has great shipping as well. I usually order enough for 6 months. Comes vacuum sealed and in a nice ice chest. Even with shipping fees it cost less than any non mass market crap I can get in Nashville. Give them a try!
