How can you skip a year or compress it one year.

It seems they would be 17 coming on instead of 18...

Thanks for the answers....

Because you really only need English as a senior, maybe a math. You can take those over the Summer.

If they're reclassifying, 99.9% of the time they've already held back. So they're likely coming in at 18 instead of 19. Some baseball holdbacks will be 20 before the first pitch their freshmen year of college.

They have to take English 4 online and other required senior courses in summer school. Most states require 24 credits to graduate. If you take and pass 7 courses as an underclass man you only need 3 credits.

It's actually quite easy assuming the kid is semi-intelligent. Most schools offer online classes you can take in addition to your daily academic schedule. I've seen plenty of kids graduate early and not need to take summer courses.

I believe now with split semesters at some high schools you can take Eng 3 first half the year, Eng 4 second half for example.

This is incorrect...Hurley is reclassifying as a sophomore, which will make him a junior...he has a 4.1 GPA and he's 15...what's juniors do u know that are 15...usually you're 15/16 as a sophomore depending on when your bday is..he'll be 16 when he graduates. Not many kids do that

What he said is not incorrect (other than hyperbole on 99.9%). Majority of kids who reclassify were held back at some point. It doesnt mean all of them were, Hurley is not in that group as he will be turning 16 his junior year now and then only 17 his senior year so he's a year ahead.

But a ton of kids who reclassify got held back at some point (usually on purpose of some kind) and are just getting back into the "correct" class age wise. Quinn Ewers is an example of this. Otherwise he would have been 19 entering college if he stayed in the 2022 class.

On Culotta this morning he said he started taking extra classes two years ago in anticipation of this. Kept it under wraps until they were certain he could do it.

Went to catholic school in Nola. I think we could’ve finished at least a semester/if not a year early, but they pushed for us to take a physics class. Maybe it was enough credits for a state diploma.

Ther was this rapper in Georgia (former drug dealer of all people), who at a certain point in high school took no electives for the remainder just so he could graduate early. When I was in school there was this guy taking like 2 English and 3 math classes or vice versa. Now this guy I was in school with, if I'm not mistaken, he actually had already fallen behind so he was doing it moreso to graduate on his original timeline.

My kid is a junior in high school. Never been held back but was homeschooled for a year. When she went back into regular public school she retested and was advanced enough she got credit for. She is now dual-enrolled taking her pre-requesites and could graduate a yr. early if she wanted too but is going to stay and have all of her pre-reqs done by the time she graduates next yr.

My Sr year I only had to take 3 or 4 classes to graduate. Where as other took 6. I guess I could have done it. But it wasn't a thing back then. Mine was a situation where I went school in Fairfax count VA. When I transferred my Sr year back home to Louisiana I just needed to take classes that the stat of Louisiana required and the only thing I needed was Civics. Imagine that the area of the capital of the USA did not require you to learn about it. The other 3 classes were just to have the hours.

I went to high school in GA, and graduated in 2006. My senior year consisted of Keyboarding for an hour, and SAT Prep for an hour (after I had previously taken it lol). Then I had work release at 10AM everyday
