Anybody else have this issue? It's pretty new. I hear the "poof" and see the coil light but after a couple of minutes it'll go out.

Never had the issue, and I’ve dropped thermacells in water, left it in rain, etc. Still using the old ones though.

Have you tried a new bottle, or reseating the bottle?

Worth their weight in gold.

Most use the MR300 for hunting , i just looked and saw the 450 but no experience with it.

Never tried the patio/backyard models

First thing I did, I can hear the gas flowing but it doesn't heat up. I about got carried off last Saturday.

This is a replacement for my old one. I think I got it in 2007 and had to go without food for a week to afford it. Felt like I lost an old friend

Could be moisture putting it out? I never had an issue with that though so would be weird.

Nope, I've barely used it.

They are worth $200. The fact someone decided to sell them for $20 initially is mind-boggling.

Does anyone use a Theramcell while hunting deer? Does the scent spook them?

I usually have to turn it on and hit the button several times real fast to get mine lit, but then it works fine.

All the time. Never been an issue. I've had plenty of deer all around me with my thermacell running, from a lock on.

I think about this every time I see them. I wouldn't hesitate to pay way more than what they cost.

If you want to try to save it, there’s YouTube videos that show how they work and all. I went down that rabbit hole trying to repair one last season. She has now been replaced.

100%. Mosquitos are miserable.

Having said that, i have one to hunt with. along with other bug free methods. and have another 3 of them for the house. did not mean to obtain that many, but the wife ordered one on amazon and when it showed up, it was the wrong color. amazon says that you cannot return thermacells. keep that one and they shipped us a new one!! win for this guy.

I won't fight mosquitos for a deer, but during turkey season if I cannot find my thermacell after about 5 minutes of looking for it I will go buy another. That's how I have 6 or 7 of them

At the end of the day you’re troubleshooting a Chinese lighter that costs $20. Id take it back to academy and see if they’ll exchange it, or just buy a new one. Hell the pads/bottle that come in the box with one are almost worth what they charge for the whole thing, and that’s where they’re actually making money.

I own 3, and I recently had that issue with an older one. After some fiddling with it and trying a fresh gas cartridge with no effect, it went in the trash.
