VA doing VA things.

And people wonder why I'm so steadfast against ever using them, even if they are about to open a new VA center 10 mins.from me.

Dead article

But the treatment for a small kidney stone usually just is pain control and maybe some flomax

Treatment for shingles usually a pill as well depending on where it is

You can pick any hospital/med center anywhere and find stories like this.

I have a family member who uses the VA for 95% of his medical issues. He is a liver transplant patient who has required regular monitoring for years. He went through the VA for his initial treatment and his transplant. The transplant itself was done at Vanderbilt with VA Birmingham coordinating care. His continued care had been through the VA Birmingham with twice a year checkups with his transplant doc at Vandy.

VA Birmingham helped him become the first person treated with Harvoni in the state of AL. Thar was for his Hep C, which almost certainly came from a blood transfusion in Germany while he was still in the Army. The Birmingham VA got him on the transplant list, which he was on a grand total of less than 48 hours before a liver became available. From the time he got the word until the time he got to Nashville (Vandy) his coordinating doctors at the VA Birmingham were in contact with him. They called him three times while they were driving to Nashville, at around 11pm.

Throughout the entire process we could not have asked for better care. Sure, there have been small headaches and the occasional hassle over the years he has been using the VA, but that happens literally with any medical care in this country, or anywhere else.

Too bad there aren't enough of these stories.

Still not using them.

Good news stories never get the press.

We'll sleep better at night knowing that.

As stated earlier, you can pick any hospital/med center anywhere and find stories like this.

my dealings with the VA which are only from the Trump changes until now, the care has been no different than what I got from Ocshner or the BR Clinic.
