I remember being 14, having not seen the sixth sense, and thinking the village was one of the dumbest movies I’ve ever seen. Those mfs were leaving society for the rest of their lives and no one thought it was a good idea to bring Ibuproven?

Granted, I haven’t watched it sense.

Any antibiotics or other meds they brought would have long been expired.

It was just my dumbass way of saying no real medical supplies, no real doctors, not even the thought of growing antibiotics or manufacturing medicines. These should all be along the first priorities for someone establishing a new colony.

I haven't seen it in forever, but didn't they have medicine at one point, but were out...so BDH had to go back and get more? Maybe I am misremembering but clearly that trip had been made before, assumedly for medicine or some other supplies that were needed from the modern world.

I just remember seeing it in the theater and thinking, "Damn... that twist sucked"

The twist was a bit obvious, but it wasn't my main reason for not liking the movie. I just remember thinking it wasn't very believable and it seemed like much of the action was forced.

Some things that I remember:

-Why is everyone talking like it's the 1800's? These people are from 1970's America and none of the kids would know how people talked in the 19th century

-None of the kids ever got curious and checked out the shed over a 30 year span?

-Why didn't they bring a doctor, or research what herbs they could grow to use as medicine?

-It's a bit odd that a group of seemingly non-religious people chose to make an essentially puritan village

-Why do they send the blind girl and not just have an elder make a trip into town? I'm sure some BS excuse as to how he managed to make it as an elder would have sufficed. The village seems to be full of very gullible people.

-Adrian Brody's character doesn't seem to serve much of purpose aside from being a plot device. They use his being retarded as a catch all excuse for his unexplainable behavior

-The entire "those things aren't real, but maybe they are, oh shite they are real, oh wait it's adrian brody for some reason" section was not the greatest for several reasons

Did you hear them? They were bad accents, meant to be like some cosplaying people

The Village doesn't have a terrible plot twist,

I agree. I thought it was cool.

Unless you read up on the movie beforehand, the twist was not obvious on first viewing. Those people lie.

I love how some people act like just because they figured out the twist that that makes it a bad one.
I did figure it out - I forget at what point in the movie - but I still enjoyed it. I remember watching it with my wife and writing the twist down so I could show her at the end of the movie. I mean if figuring something out before your wife and then rubbing her face in it afterwards doesn’t add to your enjoyment of a film then I don’t know what does.
