That place is excellent but they oddly don’t have much of the specific sticks I like although the selection is overall great.

What did you think about box pressed? I’ve never really been a fan of the squared off feel.

To be honest really wasn’t my favorite stick but I believe it was the way I cut the cap, I should have used a punch cutter with it
The draw was cold almost
I have 25th anniversary CLE I’m gonna smoke tonight see if my theory is correct

I never complain when smoking something box pressed, but I never cared for the look.

I wish Olivia would make the Serie V Melanio rounded instead of boxed.

That one is one I’ll smoke regardless of shape, but I agree. I would prefer rounded.

I went there to pick up the charcuterie board. They had nice selection. The big win was the charcuterie board that thing was amazing!

Just a lil update on the box stick
cutter vs hole punch on a box smoke I
Started with a 25th anniversary CLE

And while I’m no where an expert on either the hole punch draw was a lot better with the box
and maybe it’s just the stick but man it could be the best I’ve had its dark chocolate, this stick starts toasty and nutty, moving into sweeter territory —wheelhouse?
frick maybe I’m just drunk but it’s solid

Anyone here smoked a Java Maduro? I just finished one and really enjoyed it. I really like Macanudo “M” but this one might be better. Any opinions?

I'm no expert either, but this does make some sense depending on your goal. A hole punch seems to me is designed to achieve a tighter smoke on the pull to focus it to hit your tongue rather than fill your mouth upon entry. Torpedos are designed the way they are for this purpose, and it's meant to enhance and concentrate the flavor.

I could be wrong on all of this, but logically it makes sense (to me at least).

Regarding box sticks, I love them. I find the draw and flavor of them to be the best in my limited experiences. Plus I like the mouth feel of them; they feel the most comfortable and pleasing on my lips (that sounds gay )

I use a v cutter on box press and large ring gauge cigars. Guillotine on anything 52 or less. If the draw is too tight with the v I come back and guillotine it later. I never use a hole cutter. It always seems to screw it up. Maybe on a large ring gauge cheap cigar where I won't jam the wrapper into the cap.

Finishing up an Asylum 13 Ogre and a Long Island iced tea

Good all round smoke. The habano wrapper gives it a nice mellow spice

What kind of glass is that?

I’m having Drew Estate Java, first time having it or any other flavored stoge in years. Random thing.

Have to admit, it’s pretty exquisite.

Glad this is a thread

Been smoking consistently once or twice a month for about six months. Still a newbie but I’m hooked. Really enjoy Oliva anything. Perdomo 10th Anniversary Champagne was/is enjoyable as well. Hoping to try some Arturo Fuente and Ashton soon.

Recently dipped my toe into Davidoff and my god, for a mild to medium stick, it’s an incredible smoke. Worth the price IMO
