Looked at flights to Rome a few days ago. Pricing was between $800-1100 depending on dates traveled. Went back today and pricing has jumped to $1100-1400. Is this normal or did something go on over the last couple of days to affect pricing??

Very normal. There’s an algorithm. The prices for Europe move up and down quite a bit.

When you see a price you like, book it. It’ll be gone within a day or three.

Meh, not likely.

Some years ago I was flying to Athens and was about to pull the trigger. Then a day later it was $400 or cheaper and I booked. It went up again the next day.

Try setting a price alert on Google Flights. They will email you with price changes. (May only work if you have a gmail account -- not sure.)

Check out Hopper. They give you price alerts and also let you know when the best time to book is as well as showing you price averages.

I clear my cookies before searching each time, however, prices are crazy as one day a flight will be 1200, then 800, then 1400, and back to 1000....

Someone else suggested you do a price change alert on Google flights. I highly recommend this. Even after you've booked the ticket keep watching it. I was able to fly to Rome business class not long ago because of a sudden drop in price that ended up being $200 cheaper than the coach ticket I originally purchased.

Even before covid, prices changed throughout the week. The best days to buy a ticket to europe before the pandemic were Monday and Wednesday.

To be honest 800-1100 can be on the high end for Rome.

I’ve seen relatively regular sales at 500ish.
