What functionality/capabilities do you want from your website?

A hosted WordPress site will probably be your easiest for management and customization.

Get a hosting site, pick your site name and hosting package.

Install Wordpress or Joomla.

Go to somewhere like Rockettheme and download a theme.

Install that theme in your Wordpress or joomla admin panel.

Learn how to modify theme with their tutorials.

Going to take some time, but you’ll figure it out and save yourself thousands of dollars.

I think Wordpress is much too complicated to get good results from if you’re doing this for the first time. I’m not a web developer by trade but I’ve been building websites for over 20 years. For something like this you’re better off with a hosted builder like GoDaddy, Wix, etc.

I have many websites that I used for business that I built myself.
It depends on what you are trying to do.
Wordpress is great for customization but you can get lost in it with all the plug ins and features. You will also need to learn about terminology and how to work your way around the site. I use wordpress for my business store, my subscription websites, and for video posting. All separate sites for different purposes. Woocommerce is generally a good plug-in for business sales. Restrict is a good plug in for subscription sites to restrict content. LearnDash is good for selling online courses.

Wix is super easy just to have a simple page. If you just want to blog, post info, have some light features start here.

But remember you will need the domain (website name), hosting (the place where your website is supported), and a builder (website customization). Wix can do this for you to get started.

I use Godaddy for buying domains and hosting. I use Wordpress for customization.

I also use GreenGeeks and CPanel who assist me with my backend support for website features. This is super advanced stuff.

My advice: if you are doing this for business....PAY someone to do this!!!! If building websites is not your specialty or does not interest you take the time and money to do it right and it will save you in the long run.
