What we know:
Talented LB, position of need, loves O, dad loves O, loves LSU, been one of the most active recruiters.

What we think:
Wants to be a tiger, waiting to see what happens with potential coaching changes. Scheme doesn't seem to matter to him

What we don't know:
Does he want a change at DC? Does he like pelini? Would he sign if we keep pelini? Is he really watching for a DC change or just wanting to make sure O is kept?

What im trying to figure out is the "what we don't know" what keeps him in this class if it is true that he simply wants to see how the coaches shake out.

Very fair questions. What exactly is he hoping for? O to be kept? Which is obviously a yes.

Or Pelini to be kept? Because that’s probably not happening.

He was committed to LSU when Aranda was still the DC. Would be surprised if Pelini is what would make or break his recruitment.

He’s likes Pelini no question but his main attachment is O. I think as long as O makes a solid hire and not an over the hill has been from the old USC tree like Clancy Pendergast then he should commit. Then again you never truly know what goes on in the head of an 18 year old kid.

It doesn’t hurt that his Dad still seems to favor us. With the right hire and a full court press, I think he still signs with the good guys.

I would suppose that is right about Raesjon Davis keeping a close eye on the Tigers coaching situation, especially regarding Orgeron.

Interesting that you indicated Pendergast would be considered an old over the hill hire. There was a time not that many years ago that some posters on the Rant wanted to see Pendergast become the LSU defensive coordinator.

Idk what everyone doesnt understand about the school being broke and being $80million in debt. Orgeron cant be fired because his buyout is roughly $30million. Bo isnt that expensive but we are B R O K E. The HC, OC, and DC will remain the same but you'll see plenty of movement in the position groups which can effect recruits just as much, if not more. A new oline coach that can recruit would be welcome. GEAUX TIGERS!

And I don’t know what you don’t understand about the school not paying any of that.

The TAF pays the coaching salary and buy outs. I’m not saying they would or wouldn’t foot the bill, but the school being $80 million in debt has exactly zero to do with any staff changes. South Carolina and Auburn have already canned their coaches, I’m sure they aren’t doing that well either. So before you go and cast stones in a glass house maybe just look up how coaches get paid before you start a post with “IDK what everyone doesn’t understand”.

And to add to this if O is fired with cause over the Title X scandal LSU owes him nothing!

I wouldn't be surprised. He's a Cali kid and supposedly Foreman signed quietly with USC. They look better this year and maybe Foreman starts pushing for them to play together.

I don't think it's a done deal, but I can see USC being the biggest threat now.

And while we’re clearing things up there’s a huge difference in operating at an $80 million loss for one year and being $80 million in debt.

An OSU insider said something along the lines of his family may like LSU more than he does, specifically dad

Thats why I said it seems scheme doesn't matter to him. His relationship seems to be way more with O than any DC

Auburn just found 20 million to fire their HC and will probably have to shell out a ton to buyout their next HC from his current job. Boosters find that kinda money in their couch cushions to make that happen. If you think LSU boosters couldn’t do the same to replace any coach in that building, you are sorely mistaken.

For what it's worth, he seems to be a smart kid with smart parents who understand how this process works. Accordingly, it seems to me that he's simply waiting to avoid any risk of getting screwed over if there are major sanctions or unexpected staff turnover or spmething along those lines. He knows that, for a blue-chip kid like himself who doesn't need to worry about losing his spot in the class, there is simply no upside to signing early. Accordingly, he's holding off so that any unwanted surprises--unlikely as they may be--dont catch him flat footed.

I'm not sure whether I buy this...he's been by far the biggest cheerleader and recruiter for this incoming class.

Ah, the glorious myth of paying zero after firing a head coach "for cause." Baylor paid Art Briles $15 million after doing so, following a much more extensive scandal. Absent earth-shattering fact findings against Orgeron specifically (which have not yet even been alleged), you will pay him nearly every dollar in his contract, no matter what excuses you make in the press release.

What you dont know is what is in a kids head at any given moment. Ricks, Foreman, and Davis all come from the same community and are at least friendly acquaintences. Bottom line Ricks is here, A lot of people pointing Foreman to USCw, and Davis could go either way. It is a lot easier to just stay home when you have had pressure on you for a long time.

I think the rumors of Meyer waiting on the USC job are helping to drive this. USC is 13 th now and 5-0 so it will be hard to fire current staff this season.
