So I have been training my kids and started to do some research on the old presidential fitness test we use to take as a kid. I was shocked at what they need to be able to do get in the top 85%, hell even top 50%. How many of yall could pass(50%) much less score in the top 85% for lets say a 12 year old.

Curl-ups=situps

Events-

-Situps
-Shuttle Run
-V-Sit Reach
-One Mile Run
-Pull Ups
-Pushups

I could do the pullups, pushups, situps and prolly the shuttle run. Big no on the mile and very iffy on the V-Sit reach. Highlighted my weaknesses thats for sure.

Might post this on the OT for the laughs. Figured get serious answers here.

Why did this stop?

Did it make some kids feel bad because they couldn't do the minimum due to their parents letting them get too fat?

only thing i could find was something about a breach in data on the site.

But in the end, this shite needs to come back and come back with the quickness.

I'd get everything except the V-sit reach

if I remember correctly, the only thing I couldn't do when I was 12 was the pull-ups

me too, but my body is different now lol. When i got to high school, the coaches cut all that long distance shite out and had me focus on sport specific sprinting distances, i suck at long distance now.

I was opposite of you, was a skinny soccer player/runner so I could do all of the running/endurance stuff easy, but nost sure about the push-ups and would lucky to get 2 or 3 pull-ups out at my best.

I could do all of it, but I am in the military so it's kind of cheating.

No idea, but I probably could get close.

Yes. I am all torso and no legs. Never had a problem touching my toes, and can palm the ground.

Before Covid yes, now I don't have a chance.

We took it when I was about 12. I passed everything but the mile. The crazy part is I was pretty much a beanpole but still couldn’t run for distance. The only number I remember today was I did 61 sit-ups in one minute. And I didn’t have the most in the class.

I still have my award in a closet somewhere in a tub of old grade school shite.

Just how fat and out of shape is the average kid these days? I ran a sub 7 mile in fifth or sixth grade.

I think they changed it to how fast you can run through a buffet line now.

I passed all of it except pullups which I sucked at. But I made up for it by running a 5:16 mile. Although now that I think about it, I was 13 when I ran that mile.
